A Busted Hat @Darrell2688
Thank you Captain, Looking good in that hat, I like the leather coat also, that felt looks dark blue close up, however the color is a charcoal color with a dark blue hat band and brim binding, all sewn by hand.

I have been checking out leather coats, thinking about buying one. I like the flight jackets, Indy style.

Happy New Year, have a lot of Fun and stay safe.

Beautiful sunny new years morning in East Texas. Good time for one of my all time favorites. too bad it had no liner so ive never been able to figure out what it actually started out as. Its a modest little Royal Stetson Whippetish like thing thats been here with me about 3 yrs... It gets the honor of being the first hat of 2026

What a gorgeous New Years Day we are having! I couldn't resist the Kings Umbrella this morning, the soft white felt really sparkles in this sun.

I do hope to get some photos today somewhere else besides the front porch. The morning light is beautiful here though - it's so good for hat photos.

Happy New Year, friends.

Happy New Year, Nathan. Today is one of those days that no one would blame you if you stayed on the porch. That Kings Umbrella is a good looking hat! Who makes it? I‘m out of the loop.

I love McClelland.

The last few years with all the corporate buyouts and such, it seems like a bunch of my old favorites have dissappeared off the market.
McClelland’s has been out of business for several yrs now. Pipe tobacco, cigars, & vaping are now under the control of the ATF. Cigarettes remain under the control of the FDA. The ATF wants to control teenage vaping by controlling the nicotine & flavoring of tobaccos by casing or topping, something not done with cigarettes. Not sure where things like clove & menthol cigarettes fall. Look for premium pipe tobaccos & cigars to continue to go by the wayside while cheap cigarettes to continue to hit the market.

C.G. Wilke "Flamand", possibly late 1920s. The "Flamand" Velour is a Mélange with a very soft Hand. The Brim is an Over Welt with a large amount Brim Flange. The wide Band is black with a jaunty Bow design. I found this Velour back in 2014.

I chose this very old, beat-up, battered, and tattered Mallory bowler for the first day of the new year. In a lot of ways, it feels like me after this past year.

We like to say at the new year that we’ll leave the trials of the last year behind and look ahead with a clean slate. But sometimes we don’t get that choice. Sometimes we carry parts of it with us.

Maybe a bit worse for wear… still moving forward, mindful of where we’ve been, with an eye on the future.

For Old Lang Syne.
Wishing you all a happy new year.
