Beautiful boots. Not sure how long you've had them but how's the elastic holding up? That's been my only concern about getting that style

I’ve had this pair since 2019 and have put a LOT of miles on them. I have a few other pairs, the oldest being 15 years old. The elastic holds up fine and never needs replacing (unless your dog starts chewing on them, which is another sad story). I think you’d go through several soles before needing to redo the elastic, but when you do the factory will service them if you don’t want to take them somewhere local

I’ve seen some lovely laces in this thread so looking for two recommendations for quality options.
1. Medium thickness flat waxed for 6 inch boot.
2. Taslan style laces long enough to fit a 10 inch Jobmaster.

Thoughts? What have you tried?

Have same Paraboots except in different leather. One question what type of knot do you tie them with, I am still searching for that perfect one to keep them laced up?

Might be a daft question; does anybody wear trainers with their leather jacket?

Trainers, sneakers, running shoes, wev.

I watched a Jason Statham film this afternoon and he wore a pair of New Balance all the way through. Not military or tactical or heritage leather boots. New Balance trainers.

Just the shoes alone made him look not like an action hero, just like some bloke.

Of course. I have lots of Nike and Adidas shoes, and it would be a shame not to wear them. However, I go through phases, and it's more in spring/summer. Right now, I'm in my boot phase and only wear sneakers occasionally.

I don't mind being just some bloke.

Indeed. I also am just some bloke, and don't go out of my way to be an action hero (although what happens, happens).

But I wondered how people feel about the pairing, and whether there's a perceived dissonance between heritage leather, selvedge denim etc, and modern technical trainers.

I think there is a dissonance.

On one hand, leather jackets, raw denim are made with high quality materials, often craftmanship involving just a few people, made to last many years.

On the other hand, sneakers are made with cheapish materials, without durability in mind. When it comes to technical trainers (such as Ultraboost, Fuelcell, Pegasus), they are made with athletic performance in mind. Even the so called 2K trainers or classic Jordans were made with performance in mind, it's just that the technology of the time is obsolete nowadays. Even the Adidas Samba, Spezial, Gazelle were made as performance but even more obsolate nowadays! :)

But I like the dissonance. It's boring to always wear all in the same spirit.
