I saw these Schott wool crosszips from Japan (there were more variants but these were the ones that caught my eyes) and my mind was blown. Marc has one several pages back. Ditching the leather for the wool now.

My latest wool piece, a Schaefer cattle baron vest.

I'm not a fan of the taffeta lining and wool isn't the most densely milled, but it's a good piece.
They're normally about $150 I think, that's not terrible considering what's available today but I'm not sure I'd have been happy at that price.
From C&C sutlery out if Idaho I can get a vest in the same style made to order for maybe $120 shipped and it'll be made from a better quality wool, thinner but better quality.

Thankfully there's a bunch of these in small brand new for under $50 right now.

Maybe they're returns or the size was discontinued and liquidated ?
They don't seem to be factory seconds.

Is anyone on the forum familiar with the PIONEER Sportswear brand? They operated in Canada and produced all kinds of sportswear in the mid-20th century.

I know pioneer wear out of Albuquerque New Mexico, but am not familiar with Pioneer sportswear.

My familiarity with Canadian outerwear is extremely limited though , the only Canadian outerwear brand I'm familiar with is Codet.
