In search of a double rider jacket (cross-zip)

Hello everyone,

I am currently in search of a double rider type jacket to wear primarily off the bike (so no armor necessary) and I have identified a few options.
The criteria that I have for this jacket would be ideally to have buttons at the collar, not be to long on the back, in black or brown color, no full belt necessary and preferably no epaulettes. I want it to have an adjusted cut (I am 1m80 for 73kg and 40inch chest).
What do you think of the models listed below (keep in mind that I live in the european union so some brands can be rare or more expensive, especially on the used market) :

The flat head double rider - Very beautiful with shinki leather but expensive and I have never seen one in person
Double helix Deviant - More affordable and love their tea core horsehide
Addict clothes AD 02 - Good reputation of the brand but never seen one and expensive
Eastman roadstar - Rare to find used but I really like Eastman in general
Vanson Chopper - Really like the design and built for riding but I fear that the back will be too long
Another model of Vanson ?

Thank you very much for your feedback and inputs of this and have a good day !

Out of these, Eastman Roadstar gets my vote!

But if we're talking any jacket, I'd go for a vintage jacket. For $400-600 windward, sportclad, hercules, wolf are all good optoins. Vintage jackets are in my experience just more comfortable and look cooler. Perfect for off bike wearing.

This kit karson by wolf looks to be available from a reputable member: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/thr...-motorcycle-jacket-red-wool-lining-40.120447/

Easton Road Star if you want a D pocket is a good pick for a non rider. Good value used if you can find one around $600-750.

Vanson E or C2 are also very wearable on and off a motorcycle. Can custom order to suit your desired configuration.

Flat Head is not something I have experience with, but they look ok, but maybe a little pricey.

Schott also always worth a look.

+1 on Vanson E or C2. I love how the Chopper looks, but I wouldn't consider it a double rider cross zip.

Thanks for the link, I send the guy a message but he never answer back (maybe he thinks I was a **** because I do not speak german and I asked if he could ship outside of germany...).

Go used & cheap and then decide. If you aren't exactly sure what you want, paying one million dollars for a leather jacket doesn't make sense.
That is my idea indeed but it can be tricky to find what I want without paying a lot of tax for international shipping.

How would you name the chopper then ?

Thanks for the link and the name of older brands to look after.

Some Vanson and many, many made in usa Schotts can be found second hand in the european union for a 40 size, especially if your country has access to vinted. About 500 € for a very good condition 118, a little more for a 613SH ou 618HH, a little less for classic 618, 613 or a 615. If you don't mind them being a little rough around the edges, you can even get lucky around 200 / 300 €... Vanson C2 or CHP can be found around 500 € or less but are a little more rare... I think that nobody can go wrong with a 118, but I am partial ! 618 and 613 cuts are the short ones (back 25" for the recent references, sometimes less for older references, I have a 613 38 that is 24").

Thank you, I indeed am looking at Schott options. The difficulty for me is that there are a ton of different models and that they changed the specifications of the models as time passed so it is not always easy.

613 and 618 are the classic fitted ones in steerhide.

The only differences between them is the 613 have the "one star" on the epaulets and is not made to receive a removable collar (they don't have the button in the back of the collar and have two less buttons on the front). Slight differences indeed.

613S is "retro" version of the 613 (no "football" features under the armpits).

613SH and 618HH are the horsehide versions of the 613S and 618.

118 is naked cowhide full grain leather version of the 618 (mine from the 2020s is in a slighly greasy leather, but I guess there must be differents kind of leather around the years), with a little more confortable fit (about one size up to the 618 / 613).

618, 613, 613S or 118 are mate finish, while the horsehide are rather shiny at the start, but tend to matte down a little with wears. Those are really the classic references.

The 615 / 115 are the beltless version, steerhide for the 615 and naked cowhide for the 115. Tons of them float around on the second hand market in Europe, especially in France where they where hugely fashionable in the 1980s 90s.

If you stay around these references, you can't go wrong.

The good point with these classic Schott ones is that you can affordably try this style without spending tons of money for a first try. Keep them one year of two and then try more expensive jackets if you are confortable with the style (or keep them forever !). You can also sell them easily on second market if you are not greedy.

You can also try little more obscure brands like the made in usa excelled, that can be found on the cheap.

When you buy a second hand leather jacket, always ask for the measurements, especialy for older models who can have been a "special" version of the jacket, or modified by one owner.

I remember having bought a Schott leather peacot with 22" long sleeves for instance !

For references

My 618 40 from the late 2010s is : shoulders 18", Back 25", sleeves 25", pit to pit around 21"/22"
My 613SH 38 from the 2020s : shoulders 17", Back 24", sleeves 25", pit to pit around 21"
My 118 38 from the 2020s :shoulders 18", Back 24", sleeves 25", pit to pit around 21"/22"

Hope it helps !

Simply crosszip? It just doesn't have the typical lapels to qualify as a double rider IMO.

Don't get me wrong though, ultra cool jacket nonetheless. Especially the red version, I don't know if I could pull it off but it makes something cool even cooler:
