I just had a RIRI size 8 zipper replaced here in Perth Western Australia.

Replacement is a nickel YKK size 10, slightly "beefier". Put into a horsehide Eastman Luftwaffe fairly vintage jacket.

Getting a RIRI replacement in Australia was not going to happen,

Zipper tape at the male insertion pin had frayed ( as they do !) and a self repair didn't work ( as they don't)

$180 AUD to supply and fit the YKK ( around $120USD). May sound dear to some but it's the going rate here.

New zipper is hard to pick as a replacement, the leather seamstress, whom I met, reused the original stitch holes as good as new.

Delighted I am. Photo of the removed RIRI which I will keep for "spares", puller etc .

Excellent work and a nice price for the work done. P.S. keep the riri zipper. It will come in handy for a repair job!

Looks like a cool shop! I’ll check it out when I go home to visit my mum (North Perth) next month.

Looks great. RiRi is better than YKK though in my opinion.
YKK is hard to beat for the price. I have about 8 Johnsons with their American-made YKK. Not a single fail in heavy SH and HH. YKK has several finishes in its #10 line. in the 80s they had an excellent nickel-plated #10 used in the Korean production Harley Davidson cycle champ jackets. Their nickel-plated finish is excellent and easy to find for a bargain. Now Riri are excellent zips. However, they are hard to find in sizes #8 and 10. For the high price they command, they are worth it in my view.
