We had 4" of rain yesterday over about 5 hrs.. Much better here this morning... we can actually see the sun and sky!

Seemed like a good day to trot out a recent cheap auction hat. A not-that-old Royal Stetson Temple. Modest little hat but it should be a decent running around lid. Has a little dry rot in the sweatband, but I should be able to patch and just leave it as is a throw it on and go hat

Got back from coffee and remembered I was going to go to the Courthouse and renew the Tahoe tags. Sun was so nice outside that I switched to a brighter hat... A Flat brim silverbelly 4x Open Road. Cant believe how much dust it had.... thinking I need to find someone to do some a/c duct cleaning badly . looks way better after a good vigorous brushing.

Seemed like a good time to test the difference between the black Ray Bans and the Ambermatics. The black Shooters work really well, but I really like the Old Ambermatics..... people can see my eyes when Im talking to them (less cold and standoffish) , and I dont have to take glasses off when I walk inside

SInce it is summertime, Im thinking its about time to put the darker hats away for a while.

A few days ago, I grabbed a hat sold on eBay, advertised as

Vintage Dobbs Black Fedora Hat Genuine Fur Felt Size 7 1/8 Fifth Avenue New York​

It cost me nothing to make a low-ball offer and almost nothing to actually buy it.
I got it in my hands, and it was a bit of a surprise once I got to really see it in the light and clean, reshape and rebash it.


It's actually a quite nice Dobbs Saville in Navy. Don't know the "vintage" part of it, but it was from before metric sizing. I like this even better than what I thought I was getting and wore it today to show off.

A bit warm for it, but since it was evening, wore this ligjt green Royal Stetson Custom V to dinner and now out heating up the wood fired hot tub.
