Yes, usually pikes are worn one size up to your regular size so no worries.
You're not getting anatomical out of that no matter how many sizes you go up. At least that's what it seems to me, might be wrong. And the more you go up in size the more out of place your ball of foot and natural crease/bend line of the boot go. Bold style for sure, far from the usual "heritage" or "workwear" stuff that folks in our hobby tend to go for. I'm a big proponent of barefoot footwear myself and yet 95% of the time I wear PNW stuff or engineer boots.

Well it's not like I wear my pikes 8 hours a day every day of the week. I'm wearing them for many years now for more "fancy" outgoing sessions and never had a problem with my feet. They still look the same and they still feel the same. Of course if i would wear them every day of the week for many hours, things might be different. But I do have sneakers too for going for groceries or shorter errands

Very well said, everyone should find his own style :)
Exactly. But what I don't really like are Gentlemen on YouTube trying to tell men what goes and goes not. Who are these people to say what looks good or bad? I've seen quite a lot of videos like that browsing and yes it's good if people have something to get inspired by when they're out of ideas or can't of think anything but overall these videos shape peoples perception too much for my taste.

*You're wearing an oversized jacket while being 45 years old ? Oh my, what a sin, shame on you!! You're wearing the wrong colour for your age? How could you, get in line! You're wearing the wrong trousers with your shoes? Off with your head!*

If people are interested in what they wear and have a tiny bit awareness what they like and what not plus a mirror, they will end up with something that looks always good by themselves I think. Sometimes people just don't know there's certain things that they like or can pull off. With a little boldness I think everyone can find their own nice style when it comes to clothing.

Agreed. I don't like people deciding what works and what doesn't. I dislike fashion trends even more. Whatever is "in" will only ever suit a limited group of people.

As long as you wear something you're comfortable in, you'll be fine. And as you say, it never hurts to stretch your comfort zone a bit... you might end up looking better with a more interesting style.

Winklepickers are basically cowboy boots, just without the discomfort of a chunky sole so same rules apply and people have been known to live in their cowboy boots.

Pointed boots is all I got so there's no alternative for me to switch to but thus far, there was never a need with a correctly sized pair.

Now that I have a better idea about sizing I'd like to try out some slip ons again. I remember Rider Boot had some really nice Chelsea boots, but I'm not sure if they're still taking orders (they haven't gotten back to me yet, and their last posts are from months ago). Then there's the option of engineer boots but most of the ones that look good to me are backed up by months.

My most worn boots by the last 6 months, are these 3,
20250401_091447.jpg
last 2 months i ve been wearing my chisseled toe engineer almost exclusively,
before that I wore my cheap leather soled combat boots frequently i love the faded toe effect,
And i ve been loving the zip up harness for the last 8 9 years as shown on the leather upper and its sole soon need a resole.

Other than these 3 i frequently wear a beat up nubuck chelsea that stained so bad, double monk strap, and canvas hitop sneakers by local indonesian brands

When it comes to Chelseas, don't overthink. Just get RM Williams. They are nicer than Chelseas costing twice as much.

Looks like that Rider brand you mention isn't even cheaper than them, so it's a no brainer.

RMW are nice dress boots, but have been way overpriced for a decade. The Gardener and Lachlan are great for casual wear and the Comfort Craftsman is a good dress boots. For something a little more casual, Redback and Blundstone do some good Aussie Chelsea boots.

Engineer boots look great in Insta pics, but are hard to size well enough for daily wear.

My next boot will be another Brisselblack, but this time either a zip-side or a Chelsea. Easier to size and wear than engineers and will work with a medium width hem on trousers.

The loophole is to order from Europe, now that RM corporate doesn't allow Australian stores to sell abroad anymore. Once the VAT is removed at checkout, you're at the old RMW price.

I used to buy a pair each year when I went home to Aus, but even there the price is insane now. They are a nice boot, but priced out of their level.

How much are they from Europe?

Around 500 Euro for Comfort Craftsman Boots in a "standard" leather. Shipping will cost quite a lot though.
Depending on where you live, waiting for sales might be the way to go

I was considering them for a while because of the kangaroo leather, but it looks like they don't ship that outside Australia?

I don't get how there are cowboy boots and ropers that are easy to fit, with people here wearing them all day with no issues, yet engineers are so hard to size for? Something must be going on with the lasts for engineer boots. On my next visit to Japan I'd like to see about trying on and possibly getting a custom fit pull on from Zerrows or someone else.

Funny that you mention that. RMW USA doesn’t sell them in the US presumably because California banned kangaroo leather in the 70s wrongly assuming kangaroo was an endangered species, however the method I mentioned earlier (ordering from the UK or Europe) will work.

I got kangaroo RMs from a shop in Ireland and from A Hume in Scotland (who even threw in leather conditioner for free). It’s a really great hide.
