This, I will never do
Looking great! Any chance these are the Shinki teacore ones that Baker's got in stock? If so, did you size true to Brannock size? Any initial impressions? Thanks!Gonna go stomping at a peaceful protest.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply! I ordered a pair and am excited about them!Yeah they’re the Shinki Teacore Baker’s stock.
I’m an 8.5D on the Brannock
And I went TTS from what I read and from asking Bakers and Briselblack directly.
It was hard to get into the first time and was afraid I wouldn’t be able to get in but the leather had a soft temper so it’s nice soft/semi stuff and flexible enough and I was able to get my foot in eventually. I think if a stiffer thicker leather was used, that would’ve been harder for me to get my foot in.
Works great in jeans with leg openings as slim as 7.5” opening. The boot shaft is nice and slim and doesn’t bulk out on any of my jeans
Very comfortable to wear, not too heavy I have minimal heal slip to almost none.
It’s unstructured and the grain is very prominent and some people might not like the unevenness of it but I think it will shape nicely to my foot.
These are my first pair of engineers and I’m more used to the firmness of my lace leather boots and not sure how soft or stiff engineer boot leather can get.

Nicks are hard to get here in Switzerland. A friend of mine sold it to me for a fair price. I took it to my cobbler to get a Vibram sole (cut to a halfsole).Turned the Robert into a semi-urban-loggerGorgeous boots! I dream of a Thurman55 pair from Nicks, but being in EU really complicates things.
John Lofgren Monkey Boots Shinki Horsebuttt - $1,136 The classic monkey boot silhouette in an incredibly rich Shinki russet horse leather.
Grant Stone Diesel Boot Dark Olive Chromexcel - $395 Goodyear welted, Horween Chromexcel, classic good looks.
Schott 568 Vandals Jacket - $1,250 The classic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, in a very special limited-edition Schott double rider style. Role Clubs and Nicks eh? Doesn't get better than that even though I wouldn't take Role Clubs to the mountains myselfNicks are hard to get here in Switzerland. A friend of mine sold it to me for a fair price. We go to the mountains tomorrow for winter-/ski holiday. These boots will serve me much better than my Role clubs did last year![]()
I was not aware that Nick's are so hard to find. We have some great stores here like VMC and deecee but I've never checked if they have Nick's. I know for sure that deecee has White's.
If you are looking for a really good cobbler in EU: Masa, based in Berlin. He used to work for Brass but moved to Germany. You can contact him on IG (wornwellco).
Don't forget the Lofgrens. LolOh you guys with your Motor, Skoob and Role Club godlike engineers... Stop making me jealous![]()
I’ve been deeply tempted to buy the light brown Skoobs to go with my black ones after seeing yours!Double dipped on another pair of Skoob Wanders because I like them so much - this time in black horsebutt. View attachment 682156
