I don't see any Schott jackets on the Legendary USA site anymore. Do they no longer carry Schott?

This company is no good anymore. The owner flat out lies to customers. Saw an example of their work up close. Sloppy & slipshod, nothing like when Herman owned it. The seams are uneven and stitching doesn't line up. Doing a search on the owner, who uses a pseudonym, will tell you everything you need to know. This company is on borrowed time. A damn pity.

Legendary Jacket

Last month I purchased a Beck 501 from Legendary. They’ve asked for a review, and here it is.

“The overall quality is very nice except for the main zipper which was extremely stiff and “catchy.” The jacket should never have left the seller in that condition. NEVER.
I’ve worked on the zipper for the past several evenings. It’s still stiff but manageable.
Yes, I know I could return it, but I have little faith in Legendary’s customer service. After my purchase, they ignored several requests for a shipping date. It was finally sent the day after I asked for my money back. Three weeks after the purchase date I received the jacket. No apologies, no excuses, no nothing.
I shop online for convenience, not to run to the post office because the manufacturer didn’t do their job.
I’ll post my opinion in the Legendary thread running on The Fedora Lounge. I’d never have bought the jacket if I'd seen that thread earlier.”

As expected, and true to their cavalier attitude, Legendary has not responded to my review. I doubt they will post it.

FWIW, I had a NOS Talon zipper on a Lost Worlds that was super stiff and catchy. I used a silver polishing cloth to remove some of the built-up tarnish on the zipper then added a very light coat of bicycle chain oil using a small plastic brush. It helped the zipper immensely.

I agree with you. I know he's difficult with returns but I didn't know the quality had gone down. No sale price is worth that. Ty

The last two LW jackets I bought (2022 and 2023), had NOS Conmar zippers. They are great. Dry candle wax works great.

I'll try that. Do you take a candle and rub it on the zipper? Dumb question probably, LOL.

LegendaryUSA was so good when Herman owned them I bought numerous HH jackets from them.
Unfortunately, under the new owner, I was lied to, received a sloppily made disaster in the wrong size, and the runaround by an arrogant, stupid rep. The seams didn't even line up. My refund only arrived after enacting complaints to my financial institution. My advice; Try to score a vintage/used LegendaryUSA online and avoid this business like the plague.

I owned one older Legendary, and the hh was backed by some type of felt. I think schott did that for some time on that leather.

There was a period - I think in the 90s? - others on here will know the exact years - when Schott did indeed reinforce some of their hides with a layer of felt on the back. This became unpopular with the market; at a time when heavier hides were widely perceived as qualitatively better, some perceived it as an attempt to mask "lower quality", i.e. lighter, hides, and Schott subsequently dropped the practice.
