Post New Hats Here!

[BobHufford]

Fahey Brockman bowler/derby. Not sure on the age -- evidence of an oval size sticker at the sweatband seam. A good $3.00 hat as the stiff crown was lowered a bit when Goodwill shipped it, but bounced back with little evidence of the assault.

I got some of the dust off this old Stetson. Just post 1900 liner and factory stickers that show some indication of the age (and wear). Wish the original sweatband was still with it -- and it was five or six sizes bigger. The felt is pretty amazing. Easily shaped.

Cool hat. Lovely liner.

Thanks Steve and Joe!

I took a chance on this hat and I’m glad I did. Aside from the foxing on the liner it’s in great condition.

Thanks Daniele. Yes, that's a stunner!! However....the dark Bantam in the first picture is also a great hat.

Marcel, I agree with you halfway.
The felt is certainly Cappellificio Cervo, the modern finish (Panizza) is a little lackluster, however the color and finish are excellent

Btw: do you have any information about the brand Marca Sole?

[The Shoe]

Three new hats arrived from the Village Hat Shop today, two for me and one for Etsuko.
I’ve been wanting to try a Sunbody for some time now. My first is this teardrop fedora. I’m very pleased with it. I bought a pug at the same time to add to this, or maybe another hat…we’ll see.

My second was another palm straw, this time a Tula. Etsuko has a Tula and is very happy with it, and this was fairly cheap, and looked quite nice in the shop pictures. It arrived with the ribbon a bit out of place, but that was an easy fix.

When I put it on, I found the brim came down too sharply at the front for my liking. Again, being palm leaf, I’m expecting that also to be a reasonably easy fix.

I’ve only tried one of these elastic sweat bands on before. I suspect it was on a Japanese Stetson straw hat. I found it really comfortable. This one, less so. Not terrible - just a bit odd.

Much more so than Etsuko’s one, this has bits sticking out in several places.

Finally, the finishing on the ribbon is pretty lacklustre.

All that said, I expect this hat to get a lot of wear - probably as my eventual barbecue hat.

Etsuko’s new hat is a Toucan collection. She has a felt hat from the same collection, which she likes a lot, so decided to go with this summer one. She likes it, but with that huge ribbon, thinks it may be a little too refined for her. I think it’ll look great on her when she dresses up a bit.

Looks like you're more than ready for the summer with all your fine straws plus the two new ones, Gary. They may not be top notch, but will definitely look cool barbecuing.

What a fantastic lady's hat. I've no doubt Etsuko will be able to pull that look off. She has that refined Audrey Hepburn air about her.

Not at all. Sorry Marcel. It seems to me it is a pre War hat, made by one of the thousands hatters in activity here.
A very elegant hat

I can't find anything either on the internet about it :-(
