Got it. The YKK 2-way in antique is buttery smooth and ******proof. Recently installed on my J23. And looks great imo.

There is a reason Vanson and Bates use YKK on their MC-gear.

Yeah 10 ykk two way with paperclip pull. Damon said they have been thinking of going with paperclip pulls as standard.

My first two way zip I think I am going to be pleased esp with heavier weight leather until it breaks in for sitting, bikin, etc

Thanks for sharing, that 2 way zipper being offered as standard hardware seems like a great idea. Happy with that for sure.

Yes, that will definitely appeal to riders/casuals and hopefully bring them more business. That will hopefully translate to more leather options!

Only you can answer that. To me it’s not any more or less than some of the LVCs or RRLs. If it’s this leather, with this exact distressing pattern, it actually doesn’t look that bad. Some of their other leathers look very cheap and plastic-y. The distressing on most LVC jackets vary a lot between jacket to jacket, so it would make me really nervous to order one without seeing it in person first

I’m not into pre-distressed leather, no matter how well done. I know it’s fake. A mental block I guess. Much prefer a pre-worn jacket.

Use the links that @Blackadder provided and save some cash! I agree that of the two hides (horse and this) this one is probably better. You can even out the tones easily with some dye and a rag.

I really like the design, and would seriously consider sending to photos to Five Star! That way you can get a fit you like.

I had good luck dyeing a Cidu leather jacket, but I sold it, so I can’t answer how it has worn over time. The dye job has done just fine on my Redwing boots though.

Did you use Fiebings Leather Dye? I think I remember your pic. To even out a fake patina, would you recommend diluting Fiebings dye?

I actually emailed JL about potentially making this for me:

To me it basically looks like a highwayman with double western yoke and I like the angled chest pocket.

I’m thinking of a heavier leather with blanket lining.

Takeaway for me is at least the Rebel folks are doing a good job curating interesting styles.

Depending on what they say at JL (especially about the cost!) I may put shelve the idea for when I have the cash for a custom highwayman and use Thurston for the fitting.
