Post New Hats Here!

[Hat and Rehat]

This vented straw arrived while I was camping in the mountains. Trying to catch up on the posts I have missed!

Vented, or VENTED?

I think this is my new black fedora. Beaver brand 'Coney' rabbit fur. Extremely well done underwelt.
I have to start selling some hats or hire a lawyer. This one will not be on the "auction" block.

Looks like this is going to be a nice one - I keep trying to look at other hat shapes etc. but I think I'm just going to end up owning a few dozen open roads. Excited to see more pictures.

OK, Lounge, some help on this mystery hat. This is a Royal Stetson in SB with 5 1/2 open crown, 2 3/4 bound brim with wind cord, a 1 1/2 brown sweat with Royal Stetson printed on it, nothing else, no store, no model name, no nothing! It has a white bow with tied ends on the back of the sweat and a black rectangular size tag (actually there are two identical tags together). It has a maple leaf and eagle on the crest and the word STETSON is in blue lettering. There is nothing under the liner and only a union label and the price tag ($11.95) under the sweat.

I'm thinking this is a 60's model but wondering if anyone could venture a model name and/or if not having any model designation is more common than I realize. The felt is nice and it certainly has all the feel and features of a vintage 3X or OR or Strat.

Thanks.

I think the double tags is like a double stamped coin and worth millions!

I'm with ya. The more OR's I acquire the more I want.

No OR designation but sure looks like one. I like it.

[Bamaboots]

or if not having any model

Pretty common across a number of quality designations. Almost rampant among western/western dress hats. I have a 25 that's all OR except for the designation. So, like yours, is NOR. Both my 7X CB's have no model designation and one is OR like with a near 6" crown and 2 5/8" brim.

This beater Stetson 3X Open Road showed up.

Pretty dirty and misshapen so into the naphtha bath it went. It came out somewhat better.

There is some ghosting of the old crease and the brim is still a bit wonky (and my long oval head makes the sides curl). For a $30 hat I’m pretty happy with it.

Nice rescue, Bob. A few more tweaks and it should look great. For $30, it's a winner all the way.

That looks great Bob! Finding those kind of deals makes the searching worth it.

The Holy Grail! A vintage 3X OR in black! Looks great! A little ironing will take care of the ghost crease.

Thanks Jack! I took a chance on the size and it worked out this time. I imagine it will get quite a bit of head time.
