The Holy Grail! A vintage 3X OR in black! Looks great! A little ironing will take care of the ghost crease.
Thanks Jack! I took a chance on the size and it worked out this time. I imagine it will get quite a bit of head time.

Great one, Bob!This beater Stetson 3X Open Road showed up.
Pretty dirty and misshapen so into the naphtha bath it went. It came out somewhat better.
There is some ghosting of the old crease and the brim is still a bit wonky (and my long oval head makes the sides curl). For a $30 hat I’m pretty happy with it.

Do I have permission to use that?

Glad that one fits you. Cleaned up very nice.
I’m still looking for one, like most.

It just showed up on the porch, like our cat, Calamity Jane. Was I supposed to leave it out there to starve?Ha, ha, ha ... it’s more plausible than “it followed me home”. Thanks H/R.
Thanks B!
Hat envy!
I would just brush the heck out of it and maybe go to the sponge after that. I have gotten pretty good results with those simple steps.Bought a beater 3X OR today as well for a good price - Going to try my hand at cleaning it up and restoring it the best I can. I think it's late 50's or early 60's? but from the reading it seems those long oval keyhole size tags lasted a bit longer than the standard sizes. I'm hoping I can make it into a daily wearer.
@BobHufford You did such a great job on your black OR - If you or any other lounge members have some tips, links or info I can read up on about cleaning and restoring that would be most appreciated.

I'll be, it was named after the Nebraska Sandhills. I love that hat, and I can't wait to see the new owner wearing it.This was a Stetson model that I hadn't heard of before. "Sandhiller" - early 1950s.

Nice to see you sporting that one Steve! I believe you wear it very well ! The second part of this scandinavian exchange will be posted here soon Wear it in good health hat friend. Btw lovely blazer! The Nordic countries have a strong tradition of cooperation and trade. This tradition has now been extended to hats.
I swopped this Attaboy with Panos in Norway.
The crown is 10cm to the crease and the brim is 5cm. I particularly like the navy blue colour. I believe it's a wool / felt mix. It doesn't feel all wool to me at least.
It's another Manchester lid for my Manchester hat collection.
Thanks Panos
