Looks nice - with the chest measurement you would think it would fit up to 44"

Probably measured on the inside of the sleeves. The sleeves at least as long as the jacket, meaning they're 25" or so.

I think the enfield runs big but not sure, never owned one. My Ike runs a bit big though.

I'm taking a wild guess and say the seller mixed up numbers in his description and it's actually 22,5" chest and 25" sleeves, because the other way around makes very little sense judging by vansons usual sizing and the my visual impression of the jacket.
