That liner is gorgeous, and the color is a perfect match to the felt. I'm not normally drawn to velour felts, but I'd wear that hat happily.

Fantastic hat, Steve. As I noted in the whaywt-thread the similarities between this one and the Leica hat I own are striking. This one is in way better shape though.

Stefan, Thanks again. I went and checked and it was definitively made by the same company as your "Leica" Velour. My guess is the hat company is one of the pre WWII hat companies from East Germany.

Borsalino

I am going to keep the cattle bash in place. It is a standard Borsalino with all the details one would expect. A good cleaning and it will be right as rain.

The staining at the ribbon doesn't bother me really nor do the creases on the brim.

That is a stellar hat. Anyone know why the Borsalinos have that wavy cardboard insert under the brow of the sweatband?

I believe the corrugated spacer was intended to provide ventilation at the brow. The Borsalino Brotherhood thread will show you many great photos of Borsalino hats.
