We saw 'Jeff Lynne's ELO' (Electric Light Orchestra) at Radio City Music Hall a couple of weekends ago. Fantastic show.

Heard an interview with Big Sandy on the Rockabilly N Blues podcast. I was unfamiliar with him, but he has a great voice; he can croon and belt out rockabilly as well.

I have seen/heard him sing live many times and never once has he not impressed. He is smooth. The band is tight. They are a friendly group of guys who know how to have a good time with the crowd before, during, and after the show.

Ben Miller Band with opening act Brandon Moore, Molly Healy and Marcus Chatman.

I miss Doug Dicharry's percussion and horns (which was a big part of the Ben Miller Band's sound for years), but the addition of Rachel Ammons, and Smilin' Bob Lewis expands the guitar depth and adds fiddle and more voices to the "Ozark Stomp" sound. Talented folks ...

A Sunday afternoon concert with Randall Chowning, Larry Lee and David Wilson in the old school gymnasium in Fair Grove, Missouri. Randall and Larry were founding members of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils and David was with Radio Flyer back in the day. A nice acoustic set with some of the classic songs ("Jackie Blue", "If You Wanna Get To Heaven", "You Know Like I Know" and "Country Girl") and newer tunes by all three members. All are great songwriters and David is a phenomenal instrumentalist (guitar, mandolin, fiddle) -- Randall on guitar and harmonica and Larry on guitar and keyboard are nothing to sneeze at either.

A good thing about getting old is that some of your favorite bands either break up or loose their popularity and that allows you to see them in intimate settings like this (in front of the stage with perhaps 60 people in the audience).

A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

A good thing about getting old is that some of your favorite bands either break up or loose their popularity and that allows you to see them in intimate settings like this (in front of the stage with perhaps 60 people in the audience).

Yup. There are several bands I've seen over the past 20 years I missed on their first go-round. Seeing them in small theaters and nightclubs, and at festivals, etc. is a real treat. The plus side is, most of them are much better, more mature musicians now, and mostly sober.

I remember a couple of years ago, we went to the Ohio State Fair and caught a Three Dog Night show, with BLood, Sweat & Tears opening. It was in a small fieldhouse on the State Fairgrounds. I kept thinking, "If it were 1975, they would have to do this in a stadium!"

My friend and fellow bandmate Billy Stokes had his CD release show at Alice Coopertown in Phoenix this weekend. He had a few friends sharing the stage with him. I don't have any photos yet but here is a brief write up I did on another website:

The CD release gig went very well.
Frank Marino, Marc Storace and Les Dudek all sent video messages of congratulations and support that were presented on screen before the show.

The line up for the first part of the show was:

Billy Stokes - Guitar
Jim Pavett - Drums
Richard Katz - Keys
Crystal Stark - Backing vocals (American Idol winner)
Bret Kaizer (MadameX) - Lead Vocals
Robby Lochner (Great White) - Guitar
Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot) - Bass

Later on Pat Travers came out and played the 2 songs he guested on the album then Carmine Appice came out and The last part of the show was a mix of covers from the various catalogs of their respective careers.

Pat Travers - Snortin' Whiskey, Makes No Difference, Boom Boom Out Go The Lights and Statesboro Blues.
Carmine Appice - Do You Think I'm ***y (Carmine sang this one, they did it as a very sleazy rocked up number that had everybody laughing and dancing), Drum Solo, You Keep Me Hangin' On.
Rudy Sarzo - Come On Feel The Noise, Crazy Train, Mental Health

There was a crowd of a few hundred there and all in all the gig went very well. Everyone onstage seemed to have enjoyed themselves.

As for what comes next, only time will tell.
