Alan, they are both fantastic. So great to see survivors. Some in better condition than others. My "Medal" Stetson didn't arrive yet. Stupid bad weather.

Picked up this Cavanagh off eBay a couple of weeks ago. Not sure of the model, but the price tag says "Military" on it, I'm not sure what that would denote.

Both are beauties JonnyO. That Cavanagh looks like new! The Cavanagh Edge models are my favorites, solid fifties hat I'd guess. The derby/bowler ain't bad either, again like new for what seems to be a much older hat. Did you check inside the sweatband for the lot number? And who wouldn't want that decorative/functional venting?

Stetson Expo Medal cleaning project

A slightly soiled Stetson Exposition Medal. I'll do a fully documented clean-up project on it. Hope it comes out looking a little nicer....

Occasionally I get to make an appearance on this thread. I suppose it's all in the BIG plan to be blessed with a massive cranium, otherwise I could have too many vintage hats. Here is one such example that I NEVER thought I might find; a hat in my size from (guesstimating) c. 1930, in spectacular condition! Now I understand exactly what is meant by the expression "the felt molds like clay."

Opinions, please, on the age guess...

Presenting a custom-made "Old England Hatters" (of Nice and Monte Carlo, France) masterpiece!

Molds like clay...

This is a Punti size 7-1/2, or about a 7-7/8-8 in the USA. Woo-HA! There was, apparently, one BIG Frenchman back in the day...

Sweat management, cooling system technology... Next!
