Forgive me, somehow or somewhere I thought the leaf in the logo started to replace the stars around '52 and later. The older the better. I'm happy with it either way!
I have a Dobbs twenty that is so pristine I treat it like people treat their vintage cars, sunny days and short outings. This Stetson will be a daily wearer bad weather and all.
Sorry Tommy it's a size 7 1/4. Haven't seen too many Flagships in a size 7 1/2. I have a couple more but their the same size. I do have a beautiful French fedora, circa 30s I believe, for sale in the classifies which is on the larger side. I also looks like it has been barely worn. It has a tall 6" open crown and a 2 3/4" brim with a back bow. I wish it was my size because I would surely keep it. If it doesn't sell I won't bother me because it's such a unique hat even if I can't wear it.
gdurand, a question out of my profound ignorance, if I may: You posted a picture of yourself wearing an OR on another thread just recently and the hat doesn't have the "cattleman's crease," which I was under the impression was the only crease possible with that model. Can someone simply request a different crease from a seller? Thanks in advance.
This is a holy grail hat for me regardless, but I was wondering if someone can possibly date this for me? I bought it for $75, hoping I got a good deal. Sorry about the quality of pictures, I can't seem to get good ones without natural light.
Excellent find JonnyO! If you can read the four digit LOTXXXX number on the reverse side of the sweat by the front of the hat you can see how it compares with others posted to the Sweat Stamp thread My guess would be teens to 1920s. The store operated under this name and at this location in Troy, NY from 1877.
Thanks Alan! I will definitely take a look under the sweat and do a comparison. The store sat a few blocks from where I am living, I'm trying to do a more local search to figure out when they closed since the building is no longer standing. May even attempt to find the gentleman that purchased this hat.
