I don't mind the look of cuffed jeans but it's not my thing and I never imagined it's such a big deal and why it would matter if you roll it over once or twice. I'd suspect you'd have to roll it as much as you find the trousers to be too long but some people'd have you believe it's some kind of a science. The Japanese dude on the photo above does it right. The jeans are clearly too long, he rolled up the cuffs, game over. All good.
Those IG denimheads are rolling up jeans that are already borderline short, like the guy MrProper posted. So weird...

Honest question - Since IG began spamming me with countless denim accounts, I've noticed a curious pattern where you've got these same looking middle-aged guys with beards, dressed mostly in bland looking denim, striking a pose of touching their jeans cuffs while there's always a disgusting looking, colorful sock sticking out. Some even take pictures without shoes!

It's always the same thing, dude standing somewhere outside, lurched over, touching the cuff (they're not doing anything with it, I mean, what can you do with a jeans cuff!?), there's that horrid sock and some kinda uninspired lace up, which got me to wonder... Is that a fetish of some sort? Like the gay leather stuff? Or am I missing something?

That's a whole different rabbit hole to jump down. The infamous "cuff check" shot is believed to have been started by Vintage Engineer boots who is a guy who is genuinely into the style and clothing. I cannot confirm this myself, but I trust the people who have told me this so do not take this as gospel. However, it has morphed into just guys taking pictures of their boots and socks with their jeans essentially. They get a lot of likes for some reason, so people post them. As mentioned previously, it gets all your accessories into one shot so it does well with the ig algorithm.

The cuff check used to be extremely popular. Then a guy named Endedenim started doing even more ridiculous, egotistical versions of cuff checks in weird places. People then started calling this #dointheende and it started getting really nauseating really quickly for us that are actually into this clothing because we like and not for the clout and self-aggrandizing.

After people started calling every cuff check a #dointheende, it magically started to disappear. I cannot prove that Ende is the reason that cuff check shots are disappearing, but I would wager a large amount of money that it is a HUGE reason why cuff check shots are disappearing.

Interesting that the cuff check was started by a real denim/boots/amekaji enthusiast only to be killed off by someone that most would argue is just chasing clout.

@dudewuttheheck , interesting read & thank you for clearing that up! I never invested much time into those purely denim world so I had no clue it had its own things and it wasn't until I finally decided to make an IG that I began noticig this thing in just about every heritage clothes page the site suggested. Lol reminds me of those pin-up artworks where the girls are checking their garter belts.

Endedenim (why not just endenim?) was one of the first pages IG recommended and I gotta admit, I found the dude off putting tho I can't say why tho maybe exactly 'cause of the vibe you mention, something that even I can see and I'm not into this type of clothing all too much to begin with... There was him and the other guy that posted a video of him chopping a log in half, which is equally hilariously ridiculous.

There are definitely a lot of cheesy "heritage" pictures on IG. I have to admit that I used to post some of those cuff checks often myself. I don't anymore and I've been posting a lot more outfits. Part of that is I feel more comfortable showing my face after losing weight, though. There are a lot of great accounts on there as well, though.

I removed IG from my phone, only have it on my PC browser but I rarely click it to peek, too much ads and in my country is heavily used to sell stuff, even my friends start selling food and stuff through their page and status, so OFF of my phone.

I've heard others mention ads but I never see them! Like, just one or two tops. Often not a single ad. And it's usually only after I've seen everything new. Weird.

probably it has to do with other apps I have on my phone, most likely e-shopping apps, on my pc it has less ads, unless it is my RL friends/ fam I follow who sell cookies, and stuff. and obviously local brands I follow who taunt me with new jeans and jackets, and belts, etc. on weekly basis I feel more peaceful and grateful without them:D:D

internet is scary these days, once I follow links of references given by the person who commission me, and this references is about model of dresses the character would wear in the story, and then my e-shopping list on my apps suggested me similar items to shop, my IG and facebook ads bar showing similar items, I could not imagine if by curiosity I googled "how does fertilizer be used in making explosive" I m afraid bfore the end of the day my house would be raided by local antiterror squad
