I'd say today was the first day of autumn for us in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Leaves are already carpeting the arboretum, it was just below 60 degrees, slight breeze, and just a bit overcast. If I were a bit braver, I'd take my nap out of doors.

DerMann, What is this "nap" thingy you refer to? [huh] ;) :)

Summer really IS over when Texas has wind out of the north that is not thunderstorm- or hurricane-related. (Not that that wind has to be COLD, mind you. It's a balmy 84.)

Y'know, I have; but only in the realm of Passing Thought and not to the extent of Actual Research. Thanks for the link! So far I've made do by reversing the blades (supposedly circulating the warm air) and huddling under the kivvers until the alarm drags me out. I am delighting in the electric blanket I got for Christmas last year.

That is just the sound we get used to when we live in the right area of the country.
What, me being pathetic? :p

It's an activity many college students use to re cooperate from all nighters, tests, or even a lousy lunch at the canteen ;)

Great weather to just stroll around the campus at night puffing away on a pipe...

No! The sound of a fan going most of the year means you have arrived int he right place. Stay. ;) :p
Oh! Right! :eusa_doh: Yeah, I have no plans to move. Ever. Of all the things to complain about, missing the noise of a ceiling fan for a couple months is pretty silly. ;)

I am one of those people for whom the use of a fan in the summer (now along with the AC) has been the developement of the need for the White Noise all year long. It helps cover the sounds of neighbors coming and going at all sorts of odd hours of the night, the slamming of car doors and the youngsters in their exhiliration talking & talking loudly for hours out front at 3am. It cover the sounds of people leaving for work in the early am before I get up. It is a white noise cushion from thumping car stereos and those racing motorcycles on the main street a couple of blocks over.

We're still in a heat wave in LA and it won't cool off until about the end of October. Then I can open the windows at night and let the cool air in, but the fan will still be singing it's one note song.

It's a funny thing, because of the fan, I know when the electricity has gone off during the night, the whirring stops and I wake up aprehensive, what's gone wrong now?

Summer is over but you wouldn't know it in LA.

My cousin in Wisconsin usually has his snow blower ready by now with the shovel on the back porch. October has brought some unpleasant snow storms in the mid-west. Our earliest snowfall in recent years was Oct 29.

Ok since Christmas is my least favorite "holiday" i'll ignore much of this thread!

It was so nice here yesterday that i was out with the top down on the car on my way to dance class... That was about 8 pm.....
If it didn't rain so much here in the winter i'd think that the west coast has the perfect weather... No really hot weather in the summer, no hurricanes in the fall and very very little snow or really cold in the winter... Almost, what i call, Goldilocks weather... Just right...
