One thing I always wounder if it happened in real life, was when in the mini series, Piece Of Cake, when the dogs master does not return from a mission, the dog howls all night, until one of the squadron members went outside and shot it. Cruel, but they had to sleep to be ready for the next days fight.

I know the Brits also had dogs that had airborne wings attached to their collars...

The so-called "paradogs" (short for "parachuting dogs") were specifically trained to perform tasks such as locating mines, keeping watch and warning about enemies. As a side job, they also served as something of a mascot for the two-legged troops."​
