Class I: white shirt with two breast pockets, white shorts, white socks, white canvas shoes, cap white white cover. Class III but with black boots and socks, unless a Petty Officer in which white shoes and socks are worn. Class II wore the white front, white shorts, white topped cap, black boots and socks (unless a PO). Rank sometimes worn in blue on left sleeve.

...and here's one in No.3s w- sub sweaters. No creases but I just love this photo (note the split under the arm of the rating at left from hard service). Coastal Forces MTB -- Coastal also had a thing for the white sweater.

There's something curiously comforting about wearing a very old sweater even with a few holes - but not as big a hole as that one! My sub sweater from Silvermans is quite ancient I have to say and needs darning in a couple of places.I think that rating needs to get his darning kit out and sew that up.
