WTB: looking for a 50s MW Windward Steerhide

Howdy,

I’ve been scouring the internet (ive learned everything from this group!) searching for the perfect leather jacket and I came damn close with this 50s Montgomery Ward Steerhide Windward:

But it’s a size 36 and juuust too small. I wear it often but I can only zip it up with pockets open and I’m always aware of my shoulders being slightly constrained. The sleeves are maybe 1/2”-1” too short. I just love this thing and it’s exactly what I’m looking for. Anyone selling a size 38? Size 40 might be too big.

I think my ideal measurements might be roughly:
~18” shoulders
~20” pit to pit
~16-17” waist
~21-22” bottom of collar to back bottom hem
~22.5” sleeves

I’ve even considered just adding wider side strips of matching leather to give me just an inch more room in the waist.

Any leads?

I don't own one, but can tell you this Windward jacket was made by California Sportswear Co. That is their leather tag. CSC made jacket for Sears and Penney. Look at those labels for a similar jacket.

Thanks for the insight!

The tag in my jacket and that CSC you posted look a bit different but I’m just learning how often labels and makers changed over the years!

Now I have a new name to search for in my browsing. Thank you!

There's a really nice CSC in a 38 on ebay/depop at the moment. The pocket configuration is slightly different but otherwise a pretty close match and looks to be in good shape.

Very cool. That jacket has all the same DNA as mine, which I haven’t been able to find after snagging mine. Man, I’d miss that coin pocket tho, it’s perfect for my wallet! Thanks sharing that listing.

I'd definitely have put in an offer if it was my size but I like the streamlined look. And no problem at all, good luck with your search.
