WTB: 20+ oz denim trucker jacket, M/L (IH or something...)

Lol @jonesy86 that's exactly what I was saying every time someone even mentioned IH. I'd be like, man, for $400 I can get a near new Vanson, not to mention Schott... It's just a damn cotton, why does it cost so much?

...the bloody answer is that now I actually paid for one and I'm desperately looking for another. Thank GOD 80% of the stuff on IH site is sold out, otherwise I'd be in a world of pain. But they're really something else. Dat denim aside, comparing an IH to a, I don't know, your regular Levi's is exactly like comparing Wilson's to any high end leather jacket brand we talk about here. These jackets are beautiful. And actually useful! I wear mine every day while leathers sit in the wardrobe. It's either too hot or too rainy or too cold or too whatever for leather jackets...

@ksozay Well, with such reasoning, why am I still typing this instead of buying another IH? Or five?

This is, apparently, what denim jackets can look like.

DAMN MAN!!! That is cool! How do you get it to look like that?! Wear it everyday 24hrs a day for 10 years?!!

Lol hipster doofus whose jacket it is says it's apparently 1 year old. There's also some mention of one wash but I've no idea what he's on about and I DON'T WANT TO KNOW!

And there it is, yet another rabbit hole inside a rabbit hole.

Exactly!!! And I'm not going there! Just gonna wear the damn jacket. Put it on, go out. That's it. No more patina, matched panels, grain, overdye, tea-core, hardware color, naked or coated or vegetable or chrome tanned leather... None of that madness!

That's what your jacket looks like when you cycle constantly while wearing this regardless of the weather. At least the dude didn't button it while riding. That would have created some striping across the body. Nothing like a good southern california sun bake with salt water thrown in to help with those "sick fades"

And so the disease enters the second phase... we watch powerlessly as Monitor dives ever deeper.

Naked and Famous is decent. Good product good price.
Because you don't like the "hairy slubby" feel of Oni, check Samurai.
Check Japan Blue, they also have an amazing Sapphire Blue denim jacket. I have the jeans, amazing texture and color.
Or get the Black Iron Heart and be done with it.
The black overdye looks just awesome.

When you REALLY think about it. $400 for an IH jacket, spread that cost over 10 years. It's really $40 per year which you are paying up front. $20 if you keep it an additional 10 years.

Which is cheaper than most denim jackets.

The question becomes - can you really afford not to?
I still have my Levi mall jean jacket, we didn't call them Truckers, and have spread the cost (probably $30) out over 25+ years.

I still have mine, too. And I still actually wear it. It was made in the 70's. Now if I could only land a sherpa one.

OK, it isn't a fair comparison.

Who am I kidding, I'm trying to talk myself out of pulling the trigger on an IH. Those IH 21 oz. Type III are to die for. They have them in stock in both a 44 and a 46 at Self Edge. I bet they even have them on the rack at their SF store. I could drive over the bridge and have one on my back before noon.

Help, I've fallen down another rabbit hole and I can't get up.

:)

Or you could sack IH off and just buy some heavyweight selvage denim yourself. Then all you need to do is find a maker, and once you find that guy the options open right up, far beyond the world of type 3s

Still looking for one, thought I don't know why... Also, if anyone bought that IH sherpa Type-3 jacket and for some insane reason doesn't want it, I'd LOVE to buy it off you.

Did IH do a sherpa lined trucker?? I'd be interested in that! That's a proper winter jacket for sure. My flimsy Levis cord sherpa was a life saver this winter. Wrap that puppy in 21oz denim...forget it, game over

Ditto. This winter was when I definitely fell in love with these, because of that the fleece trucker jacket that I got. Saved my life. And Hein Gericke, too but that thing's too heavy...

But anyway, yes, they actually had one run of these. 21oz, fleece body, quilted lining in the sleeves. Perfect. Just perfect. I even dig the cord collar. Check it out. I've asked IH if they plan on making another run but sadly, no news from Japan, even though the interest is great.
