Do you have a line on Panama blocks? I’d love to have the option of a tall Havana crown…I might even be willing to pay for the blocks in my size.

I am looking into it. First I have to secure a good source for the straws in decent dimensions. I have ordered some flanges from a guy deep in the backwoods of Missouri. He may be good for some blocks as well.

My first Wolfbrae homburg! It started with a 100% beaver donor hat from Beaver Brand and Robert worked his magic. It’s on a #51 block so it has a bit of taper, but it’s still a classic looking hat. The fit is perfect too. Thank you, Robert!

About to ship out these two vented hats. Both hats are Winchester beaver, 6" crowns and just under 3" brims....ribbons are both vintage grosgrain in a true charcoal. Brim binding is a matching colour. Both felts are pounced to a lighter hand and with the venting give my clients an alternative to straw hats on those still warm days ahead. Off to catch the last days of summer.

It has been a busy week with 4 hats ready to ship out today. Interestingly all 4 the client supplied pictures of the hat they wanted. I love that challenge....it helps to make me a better hatter taking me outside any comfort zone I may have established.

Pecan beaver felt from Ukraine. Matching charcoal grosgrain ribbon on crown & brim. Hat still has some water spots from the bashing. Off to Texas where hopefully soon it will cool down so they can wear it.

Here is a fun commission. Client wanted a hat to wear outdoors in all conditions. Ukraine rabbit in Granite, leather band with legit buffalo nickel concho and a turkey feather to top it off. He wanted the versatility to wear it up, snapped down in front and snapped down all round. Off to North Carolina.

Last one today is another Ukraine rabbit in Military. Terrible name for the colour as it is a great shade of what I would call Sage. I am shipping it open crown but put in a centre dent for the picture. Greens are very hard to match up or complement. We managed to find the right one on tone in the right width for the client. I was fortunate enough to receive a hat from Robert last week, but ended up out of town on a family camping trip and hadn't gotten any "after" photos until today.

Robert built this one for me on a lightweight (90 gram, I think?) chestnut FEPSA felt, with vintage charcoal ribbon. The ribbon almost matches the felt in indoor lighting, but the gray really stands out in direct sun.

Robert builds a really fine hat. He listened to exactly what I wanted, and worked with me to make it all come together. I wish there was just a little more height on the crown, but we knew it was chancy going in, as my big 62 head size eats up a lot of felt! I'm still pleased with the way it turned out after shaping.

The finish on this hat is perfect- very evenly pounced with a nice soft hand. The felt itself is soft - I've never had a hat this light in weight before, or this soft. This is not a working hat, but a dress hat, so those are qualities I wanted in this one. And it is LIGHT on the head!

The ribbon and bow work is just what I wanted, and is very well done. Robert picked a lighter sweatband and a very nice silk material for the liner. These too are well done, and make everything on the hat come together nicely.

Thank you! The brim is more three-dimensional than the photos show; for some reason it looks pretty flat in some of those shots. I had requested a light-to-moderate flange, and got what I wanted, but the shape doesn't seem to show quite true-to-life in the photos. Something about the camera angle and lighting, I suppose.

And I don't take good photos to begin with, so there's that...

The hat looks fantastic, Regan. I know all about having to choose between crown height and brim width as a fellow big head.

I think the ribbon was a great choice. Chestnut is a very rich color and the whole hat has a great balance.

Thanks, Brent, I’m really pleased with the way this one turned out. I had a pretty definite idea of what I wanted but Robert helped a lot with color choices, and even sent felt and ribbon samples - you know how tough it is to pick colors based on photos on the computer. The credit for this is really all his.
