The Greater Washington DC Metro area got it's first snow today. Joy! At least not on the roads. All the transients who don't know how to drive in snow, and those in SUVs that think they're invulnerable, driving at summer/dry road speeds. :rage:

Lancaster County, PA got its first snow of the season today. Here's a photo of part of my Christmas display in the snow...

Nice photo, Brian. I'm sitting in what is just about the bullseye for the Lake Erie snowbelt. Driving home tonight was fun, with the incandescent stream of white spirialing into the glare of headlights. It's tough to not get entranced.

Kilroy: That's brilliant.

Ahh yes...know that feeling very well. My wife's family is in Doylestown, OH and we make the drive through your area frequently - in all kinds of blowing and drifting snow.

Brian - Is that Edinborough? My husband went to school there and still tells tales of the snowfalls they had. We live about 2 hours south of you and don't get nearly the same amount of snow.

these pics are from last weekend when we had our first really good snow.

this is the road leaving town after it had been plowed, there was still about 5 inches of hard back on the road.

HOWDY NEIGHBOR!

No, it's not Edinboro. It is Mercyhurst, located in the city of Erie. The 'Boro does get more snow but this first round of lake effect has hit more eastern than south.

Gotta Love Lake Effect!

Tuesday morning I awoke to find the world smothered by a new eight inches of wet, dense snow.
Good thing I love winter or I might be tempted to complain about not having a garage.

Snow?? What's snow? I think the last time it snowed in my hometown was 18 years ago. It's very rare in Santa Clarita, CA and the Burbank area. I have to drive out to find some snow.
