It's a perfect fit - designed to be worn with higher rise trousers than we generally wear today. I wear mine with a pair of Wrangler 13MWZ jeans - high rise 'cowboy cut' - no longer sold I the UK but turn up on eBay.co.uk. They are however still available in the U.S. So there are lots on eBay.com for very reasonable prices.

I like the Windward as brand in general, I have three Windward labelled 50s jackets, a "long halfbelt", a black motorcycle jacket and a brown "Windward" Windward jacket. This maker's woven beck tag is the most sturdy! lol.

I just picked this up very cheap. I believe it's an original, I don't know much about them...Is aero the best place to get it patched up?

Regards

I never seen a Windward labeled jacket with that extra steerhide label tucked in there. I see you are in UK, I wonder if that were something put there for export jacket.

Aero certainly knows leather and the Windward brand. I would guess there are pictures of the Aero Windward jacket in this thread.

Looks to be 1950s.

Thank you Terry. I can't reply via dm with pics so these are the best I have. I'm happy to roll with Vaseline. Thanks for the feedback all

Thanks T. This is the only patch that appears to be 'splitting'. Do I need to take extra care here or is there a way to protect this area?

I just wanted to avoid a hole.

Best

Reviving this thread as I'm pleased as punch with my latest pickup: a 1950s steerhide Windward.

I'm really impressed with the steerhide on this jacket. Nice and thick, yet supple with great graining. Love the decorative two-button cuffs. The quilted interior is in nice shape, same with the navy blue elastic storm cuffs.

Lexol cleaner and conditioner really brought it back to life.

Montgomery Ward really knew how to make a nice jacket. Wish I could find an old ad for this model. The bottom image (albeit a fancier, earlier model) is the closest I could find.

Now I need a fedora to go with it.

A Stratoliner would go nicely with that gem of a jacket. Nice find!

That is a nice jacket. I can see the hide and finish are high quality. Looks good in black.

Thanks, Terry. Since I have the Lawrence halfbelt in brown, I figured another vintage belted jacket in black would be good for variety.

Would you wear the belt as shown, or remove it? I tried securing it behind the back but it just hangs loosely and looks sloppy since there are no belt loops to keep it in place.
