I often found the label of the brill bros g-1 jackets are painted black like this photo. Is there a reason?

Is the label painted black or is that the color of the fabric that the text is on?
I think he meant the DSA # is painted over to hide the contract no.
The contract of the jacket in his photo.

I thought removing dsa part was for selling the military jackets to civilians. Am I right?

Have no idea but someone posted in another thread a Cooper A-2 with the Cooper label glued onto a mil issued label. I think that is the better way to sell surplus/overproduced military jackets to civilian.
