Why are people often saying, that denim-jackets have to be worn open??

Hey, here is a way that might make this thread worthwhile. It is a charity called Jeans for Genes where you wear Jeans to work and donate to charity. The charity raises funds to improve the lives of children with genetic disorders. They actively recommend, double, triple and quadruple denim. They are ambivalent about whether jackets are buttoned or not. Sound interesting?

I've just read through this whole thread because I'm too lazy to get up. Does this mean that if I don't button the fly on my jeans sick children will die?

Back in the day (late 80's to early 90's) everyone buttoned or zipped the bottom of their jackets. Hot or cold. it was just a thing.

No problem :p I find threads like this funny. Mostly because people have been wearing denim jackets for generations but the latest generation feels the need to ask question like - What do I wear with a denim jacket? How do I wear a Jean jacket? and does it have to be worn open?.... Its a jacket, just wear it. If in doubt, ask your dad. He will know.

I like the style and cut of jean jackets but prefer them in everything but denim. Worst of all is light colored denim. Dad jacket. There I said it. :p

This style looks great in other colors/fabrics, like Jake's FilsonXLevis collaboration jacket (thanks Seb), although I can't wear waxed cotton, it's like wearing Saran Wrap. I'd rather go out in the latex gimp suit.

Steve McQueen isn't cool because he's wearing it, he's cool despite wearing it. Big difference. Not everything he wore was cool. He is way over-rated IMHO (there, I said it).

Y'know, I've got a vague feeling that this all denim German village thing might have been in the East, before the wall came down. They were all combing their mullets, when somebody turned on the radio and heard Hasselhoff's 'Looking for Freedom', and the rest, as they say, is history.

That middle paragraph is spot on and the last one is actually a work of art...and you included zardu hasselfrou which affords bonus points to the tenth degree.

Buttoned up denim jackets (and really short leather jackets) make the wearer look like a pork pie with limbs (or one of those M&M characters) unless the person's really thin.
