Who makes 40s civilian leather jackets?

Hello, dandies and otherwise sartorially particular folks. I'm emerging from some extremely useful lurking to ask: does anyone make anything like those amazing civilian aviator/motorcycle jackets that feature in the first half of Rin Tanaka's "Motorcycle Jackets" book? I know about Aero (I've owned one of their HH halfbelts and love the Irvin they custom-made for me a while ago) and Lost Worlds, but what I'm really after is one of those incredibly meticulous copies you can find on Japanese sites: the Real McCoys, & c.

The Aero Bootlegger is close but not quite what I want, which is: something like a Block-Bilt or Leathertogs, with odd d-pocket, chinstrap or other off-beat features. Not quite a Highwayman, not quite a Buco. And goatskin...

Any ideas?

Have you ever checked with Langlitz Leathers in Portland, OR. They do many custom modifications to the basic models they make. They come in either cowhide or goat.

You can find the Japanese reproductions at the various stores on www.rakuten.com or the Japanese Yahoo auctions but you are ass-out if you wear anything over a size 42. I saw some great reproduction Leathertogs jackets in Ueno, Tokyo. Shoulda bought one.

Thanks for the pointers. I've done some scouting - the Real McCoy's stuff is exactly what I want. If anyone's interested, there is some amazing clobber at

though how one might go about buying it is something else entirely. Check out the grey Buco and the 1930s Roughwear Aviator (you click on the red leather jacket on the main page). Real McCoy's Japan has a brand new website and online shop but it's still under construction. This looks like this could turn out to be an invitation to some advanced wallet-lightening...!
