I'll defer to you on the time period. As to matters of aesthetics, no, I'm not a fan of it either. Mind you, his whole look scream Liam Gallagher, which kinda kills it for me. To be clear, this is not any kind of a comment on the character of Gallagher, to whom I am wholly indifferent, but on his aesthetic preferences, which would be hard to push farther away from my own. YMMV, naturally.
