Hi, I want to buy shoes White , Baker's, shoop in the U.S., the point is that I would prefer to choose their own model rebuilt. If so, please have some hints, tips and reviews from this store

Hi-
I can help you a little. Not sure what you are looking for but if you want White's boots, the best place to buy them is from White's directly because they have their own factory store. Baker is a reseller. I do not know what you mean by "choosing your own model rebuilt". Do you want one of their models customized? Or one of their models that can be rebuilt? Your boots will be very good if you follow their fitting instructions very carefully.

Hi Kowalski,

baker shoe is in fact the only online-shop option I am aware of. If you go to White's directly that is also quite possible as CC-1 pointed out, but a bit more oldfashioned with fax, mail etc.

In any case, I have ordered two pairs of custom White's through Baker's and it did work out fine.
Here are a few hints:
- if they haven't got something on the built-to-order list, that doesn't mean it can't be done. Just ask for it by e-mail.
- if you make the measurements as described don't add a little extra to be on the safe side. White's come pretty wide and big, so you can wear them with thick socks.
- as for the boots themselves: Baker's has those built-to-order forms, but sometimes your specs will be very close to a standard they have in their shop. It pays to browse those standard White's and add options you want by mail. Oftentimes they come cheaper that way, it seems Baker's didn't synch the prices throughout the online shop.
- as for the options: I have only tried a few things and can only recommend them (or the opposite when my choice didn't turn out to be too clever after all).
+ get a rolled top, it's much more comfortable
+ get a lining if you must for warmth, but I doubt it really is that much warmer and it doesn't add to the comfort of wearing them.
+ don't go for all holes, no hooks. That must be really tiresome.
+ always go for dark or black sides of the outsoles. the natural sides are just too busy.
+ if you want the real deal for a heavy north-western work boot, use vibram 100 soles. if you just want to look the part, but don't need this kind of deep lug-pattern, use the double-leather midsole with any vibram 700 or composite sole. The soles will just look too wimpy without the double-midsoles, but they are certainly too much on the Vibram 100s. Disregard all of this, if you are shooting for the semi-dress. However be aware that there are many alternatives to them, which are much more readily accessible outside of the US, like Alden Tanker Boots, Redwing Beckman boots etc.

hope that helps!

Thank you, gentlemen, valuable guidance, I live in the mountains, and here are the temperatures down to -30, thick socks in them are required. My favorite model is closer to a modernized smokerjumper in semi dress. CC-1 one of their models that can be rebuilt
Have you seen these shoes? . I want and I think it will be white,s to build. I want an option that was in two color

Hi Kowalski, I spend a good deal of my time in the mountains as well, but it seldomly drops below -20 Celsius in my quarters.
However, I doubt a pair of regular White's are the right kind of boots for freezing temperatures like that. White's seems to believe the same and offers their snow PAC series (http://www.whitesboots.com/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=185 and here http://www.whitesboots.com/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=186), as well as the Waterproof Dri-Foot models (http://www.whitesboots.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29869).
Finally, White's is selling a lot of shoes through ebay, their user name is whitesriver on ebay.com. I got my first two pairs through that channel and that helped me a lot with choosing options for the custom ones. I am still wearing those two pairs a lot though. They are posting new batches of boots every two weeks or so and service is also impeccable.
