Which Stewart leather jackets are worth buying

I’ve recently come across a few Stewart leather jackets on Vinted and am considering buying one. I’ve heard they had a good reputation and quality about 20 years ago but that it’s fallen off a cliff since then. There’s a few of the model called the “Cochrane”, which looks ok, but I can’t find out when it was made and whether the quality is good. Any thoughts? Here’s the link with some photos: https://www.google.com/search?sca_e...ih=669&dpr=3#vhid=WKssegH3NodCoM&vssid=mosaic

Okay, I see. This is just one post though, hard to draw real conclusions. But the new jackets all look rather light weight so he probably has a point.

I have 6 jackets from them, I do not know how old they are, all bought used.
They all use the older label designs, not sure when they switched to their recent design.

All are high quality, nice hides, nothing to complain about really.

Here is my most recent acquisition: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/thr...ny-potential-ones.89562/page-848#post-3177163

Extremely nice thick hide and flawless craftmanship.

Thanks for the input! I might give them a chance after all. Just to double check, are the labels you posted the old labels or the new ones?

The labels I posted are the older ones, you can see the recent one in the pictures on their side:

(Lambskin versions of some old label jackets exist, but on these models they are rare. Good thing for me, I dislike this fragile stuff.)

I just received this beautiful "football campus label" Stewart leather trucker.
It is made with nice cow Nubuck, and the collar seems to be their vintage Buffalo.
Dated to be made around 20-25 years ago.
Having owned, handled, & worn different leather jackets (Aero's Horsehide Chromexcel, Aero's Badalassi Steerhide, Izumiya's Shinki Horsehide, Shangri-La heritage's Steerhide Varenne), I think I can testify that Stewart's vintage jackets are high quality.
They's not for the nitpicky, and not for the "thickest, heaviest" leather afficionados, but they are definitely well made.
The leather is nice, supple, yet feels substantial and sturdy when handled.
Without measuring, I'd put the leather's thickness at around, 0.9 mm to 1 mm, when compared to my Shangri-La Varenne's 1.1mm steerhide.
Hardware however, feels less sturdy than the ones used by Aero and Shangri-La. Zippers and buttons feel "wobblier", and the cotton lining doesn't feel as nice.
And of course, you don't want to be counting stitches on this jacket.
Having picked this one up for 80€, I couldn't be happier with the price to quality ratio.
Brand new, I'd put it at 400-500€ tops.
