Which shaving soaps/creams do you want to try?

Which shaving soaps or creams are you wanting to try out? Personally I've been wanting to try out strop shoppe soaps. I believe they may have gone out of business though...

Do they make a shaving soap? Not a huge fan of cream even though I keep one in my rotation.

Haven't tried Tabac and need to sometime. Taylor Sandalwood is good if you like the sandalwood scent. It is strong though. I have some Mitchell's now. It does
well but can be a bit tricky to lather sometimes. I think that it is great for your skin though.

Taylor's Sandalwood is wonderful stuff. I've learned that the trick with any shaving foam or cream is to try and leave it on for a minute or two before applying the razor. It works wonders.

I've been using Taylor's sandalwood (though I don't get a strong scent from it) and the lemon-lime. Sandalwood works better for me. I'd like to leave the cream in place for 1-2 minutes, but I'm usually in something of a hurry in the mornings. If I could find something else to do while I was waiting, something that wouldn't disturb the lather on my phiz, I'd try that.

I've used TOBS Lemon & Limes Cream , St James Cream , and Jermyn St Cream , tried the TOBS Luxury hard puck Shaving Soap (old formula) and it wasn't very slick , and lather wasn't great either , same with the sandalwood (I was disappointed) hard puck , but I heard they've changed it . Stirling and Caties Bubbles are great soaps , I can recommend them , and tell you my favorite scents (if anyone wants to try one) . Taylor Of Old Bond Street creams are great .

I've wanted to try Mitchell's Wool Fat , but haven't , yet .

Other than the canned stuff, I have some Taylor's of Old Bond Street that I really like when I get out the badger hair brush and DE razor.

Oh yeah , TOBS Creams are tough to beat . The hard pucks I bought just aren't slick , and the lather isn't great . I heard an ingredient had been changed because of EU Regulations , but that they've changed it now , but I don't know . I've been using Stirling Sharp Dressed Man SS , its their version of Creed Green Irish Tweed scent , and Executive Man is their take on Creed Aventus (Fine Platinum AS is Fine's version) . I guess most have their version of the Creed Classics , plus . But as far as Caties Bubbles goes 'Le Marche du Rasage Luxury Shaving Soap' is fantastic , La Terre Verte is a close #2 .

I'm getting into the shaving experience, again, instead of scraping off my face with whatever is in the shower. My 17 y/o is along for the ride, although he still shaves once, weekly, he wants to do it right, too.

I want to try it ALL, but that's of course, out of the question. What we are using, right now, are Perfecto badger brushes, with either simple Williams Shave Soap, or Proraso in the green packaging. Proraso green is menthol, so I don't know that I should use it.

Before the shave soap/cream, I'm utilizing either Proraso red pre-shave cream or Lather & Wood pre-shave oil. Both of these have already yielded fine, comfortable, close and luxurious shaves with a cheap, store-bought cartridge razor!

Williams is old , Proraso is too , but I love Proraso green myself . I have trouble with Williams Mug Soap . A good inexpensive razor thats mild (for beginners) is a Merkur 23C (closed comb) Long Handle , or a Merkur 25C (open comb) Long Handle <slightly more aggressive> . Stirling Soap Company , and Italian Barber have some great Badger , Boar , and Synthetic Brushes that are inexpensive , Stirling has their name brand brushes , and Italian Barber sells Razorock Brushes . A 24-26mm are my favorite in a Two Band Finest Badger . To me the blade makes a big difference , I prefer Israeli Personna (Reds) Blades , known as IP Blades . But YMMV . Tough to beat Proraso Green Aftershave , I LOVE that stuff !

Don't know if I should tempt fate with menthol. Last time I tried, admittedly it was Barbasol menthol 20 years ago, my face swole like an open watermelon. The Principal sent me home from work the second I walked in the door to punch in.

Oh the Menthol isn't anything , Really "WHOA !" Type Menthol would be "Stirling Margaritas In The Arctic" , "Krampers Frost Bite" , "Phenix Artisan Accoutrements Frost Byte" , "Fine Snake Bite" , maybe "Stirling Menthol or Lemon Chill or Iced Pineapple" . Stirling gives you the option to have Menthol put in any of the Aftershaves , I know , and I guess any Shaving Soap too , I think . The BIG Menthol that hits the eyes and nose are the Frost Bites (or Bytes) , but they're great when its hot out . You may have reacted to some ingredient in Barbasol , never know , but it could have been the Menthol I suppose .

But considering the cost of the cartridge Blades , DE Blades are so inexpensive , 100 Blades for $12-$15 , those Razors are $20-$39 depending where you look . They beat the shave of a cartridge , and compared to $25-$30 for 5 cartridges , hmm the price goes without saying . DE Shaving is the way to go .

I wish I had my Dad's old injector blade razor. It was aggressively designed, so you had to be careful, but MAN!, what a shave.

Cremo creme. It's the best I've ever used. I shower, then shave. You need less than the size of a pea. A tube will definitely last a few months. Takes under 2 minutes, and no thought. No downside.

I tried Cremo . No lather , but slick . I heard its a head shavers cream , or for ladies shaving their legs , but it definitely works .
