Which of your jackets gets the most attention?

I have had that exact experience a couple times myself. The most recent time was with my Vanson Chopper. The first time I saw this jacket I actually disliked it. Over the course of a couple years dislike became curiosity and ultimately desire.

I think our stables are very similar-- Vanson Chopper and Commando; Cal LAPD; LW CHP; and I recall you have a Highwayman. Anything else?

JMax,
Actually I have two Highwayman, both tan horsehide. I also have a Vanson Comet PLU-3 and from Langlitz a Columbia and a straight zip Cascade. You and I definitely have the same taste when it comes to leather jackets!

There you go- I also own or owned a Comet, Highwayman and Columbia. I recall you have a leather trucker, as do I. Too funny.

TB totally H:

Every once and a while, when its really cold, I will wear my original Irvin and it certainly gets the looks and comments. its such a dramatic jacket. Frankly, it draws too many looks for my taste.

The most "hey, that looks nice" comments . "looking good bro" comments come when I wear this in black:

KUHL Burr Jacket, GUN METAL, M$129.00KÜHL Clothing(548)No taxFor most items:30-day return policy

The Kuhl jacket has nothing to do with the vibe of this forum but that has been my experience with getting comments. At least in my case, the modern cut of the Kuhl looks better on me.

Had I known this in the beginning, I could have saved gazillions and skipped buying leather all together!!!!!

I Just got back from an extended weekend getaway around and in San Francisco with my fine creek type 3. My wife kept telling me that several women and men kept checking me out. A Nice leather jacket and fancy sunglasses can turn just about anyone into a stud. Not a single comment but a lot of rubbernecking apparently.

As I have mentioned before now I get called "leather jacket guy" by all the tatooed honeys at work. Them in their 20's and 30's me in my early 60's ! That is any of my now HUGE jacket inventory but espcially my horse and goat black collared straight zips.

I have worn all of my leather jackets to my 7-12 grade that I work at throughout the year. I already have a reputation as a leather jacket guy among the students and staff.

I wore my new to me San Mateo today and straight away I can tell you that it got the most attention, even though they're used to me in leather jackets, I got a lot of stares in this one.

I just imagine you in front of a blackboard with "Shinki vs. Chromexcel--Please Discuss" written on it.

I'll do a Socratic seminar on vegetable tanned vs. chrome tanned leather. I will give them specific threads from this forum to read in preparation.

Then we'll move on to teacore vs. leather that is dyed all the way through.

After that, I'll teach a lesson on how modern reproductions came about and then we'll finish by covering the great debate of Japanese makers vs. the rest of the world: which is better?

Should make for a pretty good mini unit, especially given that I will be wearing primary sources every day.

Not surprising at all, the san Mateo is very unique, people are just not used to it :)
