Where to find Real McCoys Brown J100 (wtb)

I'm considering purchasing a TRM j100 in brown, like the attached image, but am having trouble finding it in stock anywhere and Real McCoys Japan appears to not ship outside of the country. I’m currently shuffling through my address book for friends living in Japan, so it turns out I’m less worldly than originally believed. hoping someone here has similar experience and/or can point me in some direction.

currently I’m in the deliberation stage, so whatever. Nevertheless it would be nice to know how to aim if I do pull the trigger. Thank you!

These can be a tough jacket to fit for many if you search around so I’m not sure if you have tried one on. Just depends on your body type, height, arm length, torso length. Shoulder width is very wide on larger sizes.

With that said, if you are set on it, you can use a proxy such as zen market, Buyee.jp, worldshopper but be prepared for a hefty shipping cost, a proxy fee, and they don’t seem to waive the Japanese domestic taxes for overseas orders.

If you are not sure if this will fit, by the time you factor in the extra costs in importing one. You can look into a custom Himel Kensington, Field Leather Route 66, Lost Worlds J100, Aero Board Racer, Simmons built J100.

There is a brownish burgundy color FountainHead with a similar design with some extra details that looks great.

Check Etsy for vintage too. They have many but some most are on the higher priced side

Thank you. I’ve been looking into all. I live near Seattle, so I’m also tempted to reach out to Thurston about trying on some Badalassi Board Racers (the measurements of what they have may or may not work for me), I also emailed Good Wear and never heard back. As for Simmons Built, any experience? I’m tempted to request some swatches — the Blattwerk sounds interesting.

I’ve emailed Goodwear from 4 different email addresses over about 3 months ago. You won’t hear back from him. Nice jackets, poor business man.

Anyone else would have found someone to help make the jackets (machinist they call them) because his site says 13 months wait time but from reading here it’s more like 5 years.

I have just seen pictures of the Simmons built J100 and it looks better to me than the Aero and they have more hides including Shinki like the Real McCoys you wanted. But the stitching quality is not on that level but the price is far lower so it’s a trade off. I’m considering one just due to the reasonable price and leather selection, a brown Blattwerk leather.

Before I learned anything here I bought a new but 2nd hand off the rack Himel Kensington and it didn’t fit and had to sell but if you had the money to spend on importing a RMC in Brown Shinki then I would strongly consider the Kensington in comparison, recently a member waited about 5 months for a custom Himel but he chose a rare white deerskin so possibly the wait time would be lower for a stock leather.

I myself put a deposit in March for a Fields Leather Route 66 which you can eliminate the side hand pockets and you will basically have a standard J100 with construction quality possibly above that of Real McCoys. Just be aware of the 12-13 months wait time.

I might just get it for the fun of it, I’ll check shipping. I do hate that it has hand pockets to instead of chest pockets.
I like hand warmers on collar jackets. I will think about it. Everyday I see people post almost perfect vintage Brooks and I feel if I just wait then eventually one will appear if I’m patient.

I wonder where all these new old stock Brooks have been hiding?

My bet is that you will be happier with an earlier HD CR with the white label. Or the even earlier black/orange label. Though both generally go for more than this one. My favorite vintage CR is the Cal 6-panel.

Those white label Harleys were made with a very nice leather. Most of my Reeds were made out of the same leather as Harley or perhaps Harley's white label jackets were made by Reed? I know Brooks made most of the later ones. The leather that was being produced during that period is on both my white label Harley and Reed. I am still on the market for a size 44 white label Harley in the CR style black jacket. When I grow up and have the bank roll that Max has, I will be able to dream of a 6 panel Cal.

I got lucky with my Cal CR. No one bid it up. Seller did not advertise it as a Cal.

I had a L white label HD. Definitely a step up from the AMF jackets. Can’t recall if it was a 44 or bigger. No idea you would have wanted it. Beautiful hide for sure. One CR is enough for me, I like my Xzips. My 50s HD is one of the nicest jackets I’ve owned. Incredible hide. That’s what you need. Early HD. Also got lucky with no one bidding that one up. One for sale for $1200 on eBay.

I got a padded CR Cal. Not the hard to find six panel one. The fine folks at Cal leathers confirmed it was legit. Also, I was informed that during the late 50 and though the 60s, some of the Cal leathers did not get a label. If you look at their sewing techniques, you can clearly identify their jackets.

Yes- no label or some other label. I had an early 50s one with a Louis the Tailor label. Cals are very distinctive.

I would spend money on an early Cal 6-panel. With the thick, teacore-type hide. Mine is the deeper black, not as thick hide. Still awesome but…

Max, I think you have seen the jacket. A member here has one also. Curiously, his does not have a label either. I will locate my jacket and will post images of it. I am still on the hunt for a black single pocket, white label HD. Like the one you sold several months ago. Can believe that I did not see it when It was on sale.
