Where to find high waisted pants for under $75

What about Wahmakers? The Gentleman's|Western|Steampunk Emporium (amongst other places) sells them.

That sort of thing would be great if you like a high waist but with a slimmer, straight leg, as was the norm in the Victorian / Old West period, up into the Edwardian Era to the early 20s. If you're looking for a more 30s/40s look, they'd be a bit too narrow in the leg, typically - though that said I have a pair I wear with a more middle fifties look, and they work for that.

(Sorry for the UK specific terms.... easy to forget how ingrained that are!)

If you want to keep to cotton with a good fit vintage, or modern military surplus is great option. More than likely less expensive, and more durable.

Sorry for the shameless plug, but I think it's of great interest to many here: Very, very soon, my own line of vintage reproduction wool trousers are going to be available. The first model out is going to use the 'swing' pattern, a distinct 1940s pattern, but generic enough to cover from mid/late 30s until early/mid 50s. The key points is the high waist and wide legs.
We're also working on a model with slimmer legs, compared to the 'swing' pattern. Still nicely wide and roomy, but not 'Oxford bags wide'.
Price point is still not worked out completely, but right now it looks like it's going to be in the vicinity of 65€/90US$

So I have been looking around. I haven't really found anything much. It seems many places that have high waisted wide legged pants are unfortunately overseas. I have decided I will probably either go with the Red Kaps (if they have a high waist, or at least a natural waist), or the Aris Allen/Dance Store pants. Either way, I will buy several pairs, as to wear them daily.

All stores are obliged to do it, but not many advertise with it, as it can be a hassle in some shopping systems. But they should be able to process your order manually.

Look for "swedish work wear trousers" or sometimes "swedish prison trousers" on british ebay. Very high waisted and cotton. They have a green color but you could dye them dark brown or black. If you buy them longer a tailor or seamstress could put cuffs on them.
They are my cheap everyday trousers. Not suit trousers but good enough to wear with a sportcoat or sweaters. Don't let the word "casual" get in your way. There is vintage (inspired) casual and there is modern (über) casual. Big difference.

Well, just as the shoe hunt you have ongoing, the same is going to be true for pants. I have seen them, they do "pop" up on eBay every few weeks. At times they are not over priced. Tell me your size, I'll keep a watch for some that would fit your wallet as well as fit you!

That is a great idea as most of the time, clothing made for the "service fields" are going to be made a bit better than off the rack at some cheap department store.

Yes that is what I am speaking of, he is a smaller size and there normally is a lot to pick from.

I doubt the OP would be satisfied with vintage trousers, even if they were deadstock.

Retro Spectator, just bite the bullet and pick up a pair of Bill's Khakis, or find them on sale at a Nordstrom's rack. One quality pair of trousers are worth three, as they will look better, break in better, and last longer. It sounds like this model is the closest you are looking for:

Another option is to track down a pair of a knock-off Ralph Lauren line called "Beverly Hills Polo Club," they also show up at Burlington Coat Factory, Marshall's and Ross. I have a pair somewhere and they are pretty high-waisted, comparable to some of my vintage slacks.

Unfortunately, high-waisted pleated cotton pants are so out of fashion that your chances of finding something at your price point are pretty hopeless.

Yes, Ralph Lauren would also be a suggestion BUT they are usually not cheap. Never heard of the knock off brand before. RL can also be foudn deadstock on ebay for less. But your attitude may get in your way.
