Too much dust around my house to keep them out all the time. I use triple hat hat boxes myself. That way they stay enclosed in something.

Jeff what dealer on Ebay did you purchase your rack's from? The look nice I wear cap's back and forth to work everyday and keep them on a back of the door hanging rack my Fedora's don't go to work as I work in a Large Bakery plant and the flour get's every where an would not want to chance them getting flour in them. So 2o dollar Skully cap's are my day to day wear.

New to the Lounge and Loving all the great info. I built a hat shelf in the hallway a few years back in an attempt to keep my hats neat. It worked great until the cats discovered how much warmer it is up there near the ceiling and claimed it for themselves. Between the cats making more room for themselves by pushing the hats over the edge and all the cat fur clinging to the hat fur.
I have abandoned the shelf! Searching the Lounge now for new ideas!

Do you wear the campaign hat often? I really like it.

JimWagner: I just ordered the tabletop version that holds 12 hats and rotates. Thank you very much for the link.

It's difficult to carry a special chair with you everywhere, but a briefcase is another matter. I will be able to place it under the chair and place my hat on the briefcase. That will accomplish two things, make me look professional and give me a place to put my hat.

Yeah, the etiquette for hats is a lost rulebook. I take mine off when I enter someone's home. I take it off when I meet someone older than I. I try to take it off when I eat at a restaurant. Otherwise it stays on. In a restaurant I refuse to leave it where I cannot see it. Not only do I not want it stolen, but I don't want it damaged by people that have no idea how t handle a hat. And I'd never leave my hat with a coat check. No way.

Great little movie. I began thinking that the cane was going to have a spike that went into the ground and then open up like a swiss army knife to hold everything.

That's funny. That was actually my first thought as well.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

There are several old restaurants in SF that have coat and hat hooks right next to tables or inside booths - I tend to visit them more than others. If I am in a coffee shop, like Starbucks, typically they don't have coat/hat hooks so I leave my hat on. I figure, if the place cannot provide customers with a convenience, well, then they have to bear with a guy wearing his hat.

My rule is that I'll take it off in private space--a person's home, an elevator, at a restaurant dinner table. I'll usually leave it on in public space or where there isn't anyplace to put it. In Arizona it's common *not* to remove your hat at the table, having more to do with cowboy hats than fedoras.

At a crowded table, sometimes there just isn't any place to put it and so I'll leave it on. I'll say something so that anyone who would know or care wouldn't be offended.

I'm not very good about doffing my hat to women or my elders. Hmm.
