Following up on Art's post that he will no longer be renovating vintage hats and Fedora's reply indicating that he too is concentrating his efforts on his custom line, I'm left to wonder where I'll go to have my hats restored, cleaned and blocked. I've had positive experiences with both of these gentlemen and am saddened to know that I can no longer turn to them for these services.
I have also had great luck with Optimo and consider their work to be first-rate. My concern is that if they pick up the overflow, will they also become overwhelmed by the amount of work and discontinue their services? It was mentioned that Duane at The Fedora Store is stepping into the void, but I'd like to know if there are others out that who offer these services and if any of you have any experience with them.
The only other company that I have dealt with is Levine's in St. Louis who will do renovations but will not clean beyond steaming and brushing. The quality of their work is inconsistent and runs the gamut from "very good" to "I could have done this myself." I'd appreciate knowing who else is out there!
