That jacket looks a couple of sizes too big (at least the way I would want it to look). I’ve heard that Air Force One keeps several almost identical jackets in their wardrobe, in various sizes, for other VIPS on board (probably very, very VIPs). IF that’s true, couldn’t the president pick through the sizes and get one with a better fit?

I think both Bush’s had G-1’s. As did Kennedy.

Bush I flew in WW2; if memory serves, at 19 in 1943, he was the youngest qualified USN aviator on record. I believe he often wore an M442a / G1 type, similar to if not the actual M442a with which he was issued in the USN. His son was not in a position where he was ever issued with a USN jacket, but he often wore one casually, presumably it had significant sentimental value as a "jacket just like dad's". Most Presidents (I think even including Bush II at some point) here and there wear an A2 like the one in the OP when they have been on Air Force One; most do seem over-sized. The one Obama is wearing in the photos above was much discussed at the time, you'll find the old thread on TFL if you go digging, I'm sure. It's a standard, modern-issue A2 which was kept on board AF1, and worn by any passing president. (There was some speculation at the time as I recall that pe rhaps Obama liked them oversized, though photos of him in his own leather jackets post his second term in office suggest otherwise). There's nothing different from stock about the jacket's construction, what makes it unusual is the presidential seal and other insignia, which I suspect aren't (officially) avaialble anywhere should you be thinknig of a complete repro rather than wanting a modern pattern A2.

Good new is if it's a current patternt milspec A2 you're after, it'll be much cheaper than almost any good WW2 repop!
