This thread was inspired by a post earlier today from Bowen @AbbaDatDeHat which I enjoyed immensely.
To quote him: “...it is one that i feel that feeling when a hat is just right for you and speaks to who you are in a hat. It doesn’t say “hey look at me” it says “hey this is me”. It’s not the dollars or the elusive museum piece, it’s just...”the hat” that says your name.”
Not sure if this will take off, but I thought it might be fun to see the hats that say other members’ names.
I’ll kick it off with this hat that came to me from @Lexybeast.

I loved the colours, and when I read his description of its size, I thought it sounded as if it was made for my head.

I present to you the hat that was made specifically for me more than ten years before I was born: the Stetson Custom V “Gary”.

Great quote, and a good thread idea. Similar to the Untouchables thread, but this being a single fav lid might get interesting.

For a hat ‘having your name on it’, I literally tried to do just that for a while. I was look for a Young Bros or Roos Bros hat, simply because of the store names being the same or similar to my birth name. Finding in my size proved difficult, but then finding in my preferred style was even harder.

I was also dead set on finding an OR style hat, as I was intimidated (and even found some comical) by proper western hats, or anything larger then 3” brim and 6” crown. Then ‘my’ hat came along... it took some time to get acquainted, but after that brief phase, it’s been my go to with ‘my name on it’. Or damn close, my signature looks oddly similar.

The way you rock those big hats now, it’s hard to believe you’ve ever been intimidated by them! That’s a spectacular hat.

This pic on the pier(?) with the background & colors is dynamite! You really should have a copy enlarged & framed.
Thank you.
I told my wife about your comment. She said “You do remember who took that photo, don’t you?”
A wiser man would have just said “yes” and praised her on the good job. Not being wise, I pointed out who chose the spot, set up the camera and did the post-processing!

After WW2, all British military received a demobilisation set of civilian clothing, which included the so-called "demob suit", shirts, underclothes, raincoats, hat, and shoes. Some years ago i came across a photo of a family group, it was my parents and myself at London's Portobello Market. In the picture my father was wearing his demob suit, I just had to have that suit so I commissioned a tailor to make me an exact copy. Some time after it had been made, talking to my sister about the rest of Dad's demob clothes, did she have any photos of his coat and hat? She didn't have a photo but did recall his, as she put it, grey trilby with a large brim. That had to be a fedora.

The hat that I bought is a Stetson Sovereign, it's probably not the same as the one my father had, but it does go so well with the demob suit. Incidentally, I have since found an original grey demob Trenchcoat.

The depth of field is perfect! I figured she was the photographer & I knew it was a camera other than a phone camera. Good job, taking advantage of the opportunity conditions presented.

Here is that Trenchcoat. I like to think that the hat and coat are worthy replicas.
Magnificent! Absolutely, they’re worthy!
The posts so far have made me glad I started this thread.

"Blackie" was my first custom hat made for me by Rand in 1989. The Urban Cowboy era was in the rear view mirror & this hat was my first step up from store bought production hats. I bought the beaded hatband from an Ojibwa/Cherokee woman who made her retirement beading in the 1990's. I've worn this hat from job sites to saloons, in country & out. It has always fit great, it only gets better!

Wow, great looking men, every one of you! Very smart. I'm not sure I can live up to these standards!

Yep, there is that hat you slide onto your head and the world is a better place at least for a moment. for me this Art Fawcett creation is that hat. I will say the Stetson Ross is wearing is an iconic lid for sure. View attachment 315333 View attachment 315334

I try to make it appear that way most of the time I pick out a hat. It doesn't always work, though...

Fabulous hat, not so sure about the cloned wine though.

Joe Friday. Do you remember that the names had been changed to protect the idiots? Or was that innocent?

What a photogenic subject. Looking straight at camera, with enough menace to be a 007 baddie.

My signature hat would be my Open Road (Natural) only because I wear that one more than all the others combined.
