Get some Retsina next time, quite affordable and unique taste, also at blue collar price.
I love Retsina. Most often we cook Greek style just as an excuse to buy a bottle. The downside is there is only one brand of Retsina available in our liquor stores and it is a mild 'white man's version' whereas we prefer the one with a real strong resin presence....the stronger the better. My fond memories of the 2 months spent in Greece way back in the late 60's....the retsina came in Coke sized bottles with the beer type cap. Perfect size to share with a meal. Can't remember the price but it had to be cheap as I had little money.

A few Angry Orchards and chips and salsa while sitting out back. Later it was a couple of turkey and salami sandwiches.
:D

Domestic Genoa salami, peanut butter on rye toast with Angry Orchard, corn chips, salsa.
Turkey and salami is good and peanut butter or mayonnaise, mustard on rye.
Corned beef goes good with salami and peanut butter or yellow mustard and rye.
And a sardine slam with mustard and corn chips, salsa and Angry Orchard.:D

Pure Rye bread, smoked wild Salmon, French Comté and a nice Palatine Cabernet Sauvignon from a water glass, just like they do at home there.

THE German cliché tonight, Bratwurst with Sauerkraut.

Only original when served in a half-timber house with coal fired cooking machine and listening to some Wagner from a Volksempfänger. Leather pants and Dirndl to stay in the closet for me and my Valkyrie, these are only worn on Labor Day...:D

Mostly non-meat eaters in my house, but I did do this last night, which came out pretty well. Sorry for the poor pic. Lamb (garlic and rosemary & thyme from the garden), herby new potatoes, and some haloumi and tomatoes that I pinched from someone else's meal. Iowa State University released a study showing lamb, cheese and red wine in moderation help cognitive abilities, so I'm just doing my bit.:)
