Mars Attacks
Mars Attacks
One of my grandson's favorite movies. I'm pretty sure that at this point I can quote the entire movie line by line from memory.
That one is worthwhile as long as you do not take it seriously as it was not meant to be.
Me either, but that's only because I didn't think the movie was entertaining or amusing enough to laugh at...."Mars Attacks"...Never quite saw the whole thing as a comedy...

I once had an original set of "Mars Attacks" playing cards as a kid (in case you didn't know it, our friends with the transparent skulls got their start on bubble gum cards) and I was a little disappointed in the film. Those cards scared me to death as a kid. Soldiers burned alive, giant bugs, womenfolk leered at and ravaged.... Never quite saw the whole thing as a comedy. Must've been all that cold war paranoia I suppose.
Worf
well......Slim Whitman's yodeling making the martians heads explode at the end was pretty entertaining

Agreed, I thought it got a bum rap when it came out. Beautifully film - wonderfully acted - very Hitchcock-like. I never understood why it came and went and was considered a disappointment.
I saw that with a friend when it first hit the theaters. I figured it out in the first 20 minutes, and had to endure the next two hours until they finally got around to revealing the big twist. :eusa_doh:'Shutter Island'..Dicaprio

She was looking a little young and crazy in this early (1960) Italian schlocker

Strange how that can work. It disturbed me enough that I would most likely watch it again...[huh]

I did not like the film the first time I saw it, I was very disappointed. Over time, I have found it to be cheesily entertaining. It is kind of hard to see as a comedy, but it is definitely just as hard to take seriously so instead I watch it as cheese.
Oh yeah, I knew that they were on bubblegum cards, but had no idea that was their start. Interesting because they were not friendly to look at.
