I DVR'd about 8 Bond movies over the Thanksgiving holiday and I just watched On Her Majesties Secret Service last night. Such a good but under appreciated movie.

The last movie I saw was Jurassic Park. I love watching Spielberg movies. And dare I say, this is a "classic?" I just feel old when I call movies like this one classic. Oh well, guess I have to accept my age some time.

I spent a very pleasant long-haul flight from London to Beijing over Wednesday & Thursday watching four films:

Terminator Salvation - surprisingly entertaining, much better than I had anticipated. On a par with the first film, and, IMO, significantly better than the over-hyped Terminator 2.

Iron Man - which I had already seen (I actually have the DVD), but it's good, and I had the option of watching it back to back with...

Iron Man II - equally as entertaining as the first.

Last came Angels and DEmons, which falls into the very surprisingly entertaining bracket. I actually considered this one to be significantly better than The Da Vinci Code - tighter, better story, and simply held my attention better. I'm not busting to read the book, though - I did read The Da Vinci Code and while it was an entertaining enough story, it was possibly the worst-written tome I have ever encountered. I don't believe I've seen such toe-curlingly clumsy pop-culture references since Lois and Clark's rendition of Jimmy went to see Pearl Jam....

Just previewed "Waiting For Superman," a relentlessly bleak documentary examining the woeful state of American public education. When I entered the title into the ticketing system, it came out "Waiting For Supperman," which sounds like a movie Woody Allen would have made in 1985. And which would have been much more cheerful.

Interesting...I liked the nostalgia and the nod to Capra and older films in general, but it reminded me of "The Truman Show"....because of Jim Carrey, I suppose. =P
