Seaside postcard humour at it's best. Busty girls in stockings! Isn't that what modern Burlesque all about. Hmmm:D Yum Yum
While funny at times, his programs do tend to run together.
From what I've read about him, he wrote the music and lyrics of a lot of his songs, as well as the dialogue for the skits.
He's also one of a handful in tv that was in control of the entire production, some others in this group are Jackie Gleason and Milton Berle.
Sure it wasn't hard to write BAD tv, but to put it to music and set up the choreograpy now that takes talent. :)

Benny Hill was a genius. :D

If I'm glad any program was cancelled, I couldn't tell you. I just won't bother watching something I don't like, so the bad stuff can come and go... I don't care.

"We were working the day watch out of raccoon abatement."

I may as well get this over with :

Animal Control Officer, holding Hav-a-Hart trap: " Good afternoon. I'm Officer Freitag of Animal Control."

Housewife : "Are you here about the raccoons ?"

Freitag : "No ma'am."

Housewife : " Are you here about the pack of wild dogs ?"

Freitag: "No ma'am."

Housewife, bewildered : "Well what have you come out here for, Officer Freitag ?"

Freitag : "Just the fox, ma'am."

Star Trek. Why were all the aliens people painted silver?

They did eventually offer an explanation for all of the aliens looking like humans. An ancient humanoid race seeded their genes across the galaxy, or some such.

I was glad of the mercy killing of "Heroes." It was unbelievable how bad that show was in the end. Perhaps it was never going to be high-brow stuff: but I can't recall any other show dropping in quality to that degree.

I was never impressed by Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, not a bit sorry it went away. Same in spades for Love, American Style - yuck.

I have a collection of 50's-70's tv shows, but neither of these are in it.
Some programs didn't hold up over time, and these are 2 examples.
Maybe because the jokes were meant for that day and time, politically speaking.

Jersey Shore is the only one I can think of at the moment. I think shows like that are disgusting, representative of moral decay, as well as the deterioration of good taste. I don't tend to watch reality TV (well not much TV period, except for watching some shows I like on YouTube, Netflix, or Hulu), but occasionally there is a somewhat interesting survival show.

About Happy Days: I occasionally watch it (haven't seen the whole show), but the later seasons where everything looks like the 1980s don't interest me nearly as much as the first three.
