What style hat is this?

Because it is my ideal non-cowboy hat. This may be a simple question and I guess this falls under those hats called "fedoras" but there seems to be alot of variation within that category. I've seen these large brims called "gangster" hats, "swing" hats, also open road style. Is this large brim style from a certain era, hence the names above, or do you find them from the beginning of the fedora on?

I rarely see them with a 3-inch brim - I love the look - too bad this one is 2 sizes too small. Thanks!

John

Great looking hat. I've not seen many Mallorys, but is the bow really "backwards" like that? With fins at the front / front and back? It almost makes it look like a woman's hat that has been bashed back-to-front for a man to wear it.

Looks good regardless.

That Sir, is what is known at the 'Dixon Cannon' style. More popularly known as 'Just My Style'. I wouldn't wear at all if I was you. But, you see, I'm not you. I'm Dixon Cannon and that fedora is 'just my style'. Stretch is to 7.5 and send it my way - I'll take care it so you needn't worry anymore, m'lad! ;)

Sorry about the live ebay auction thing - I guess I should read the rules once in a while. It's a vintage Mallory - not mine nor do I know the owner.

I thought the rule of thumb was that hats should not be stretched more than one size?
