What Kind of Shirt is This?

[Retro Spectator]

I found this very unusual collarless plaid shirt made by Peter Barton's Closet at the thrift store today. It was made in Italy. It is constructed similar to a normal button down shirt, but the buttons don't go down all the way, and are off center. There is no collar, and the cuffs have only one button each. The back is more bunched up than a normal shirt. The underarms stick out a bit. The buttons are very tiny.

What kind of shirt is this? Unfortunately, I didn't wear it yet, as it needs to be washed first, so there are no pictures (yet) of me wearing it.

When do you think this shirt is from? I'm guessing it's 70s, but it might be 60s, or 80s even.

There is a flap under the outer fabric. There are two buttons on the top. One inner button, and one outer button.

Peter Barton's Closet was trademarked in 1977 and closed in 1984. The style is very similar to certain late 1800s/ early 1900s casual/work shirts.

Looks like a hybrid between a chef's jacket & an Indian shirt...............High street Indie fashion was very popular in the 80's. whatever it is, it was designed to be worn outside the trousers so don't tuck it in.
