What is the specific brand and model hat worn by James Stewart?

I have several western motion pictures starring James Stewart from "Winchester 73" through "The Rare Breed." These were all made in the early-to-mid 1950s except for "The Rare Breed" in 1966. Stewart appears to be wearing the same hat in all of them. Considering it took much hard use, I'm interested in identifying it.

What is the hat's brand and model?

I would be shocked, positively shocked, if someone here knew the exact make and model. Among Stetsons alone there's so many variations on thin ribbon westerners with bound edges, I'd venture it's impossible to know, absent a clear picture of the sweat (assuming it had an embossed model name, most did not), or other documentation.

Look at the Miller Catalog thread for that time period & you'll see what Jared means about all the models close to that configuration.
That was his personal hat from what I recall from RBH's posts a while back.

I,m sure the Wardrobe Department had a few extras dressed up (dirtied up) the same just in case. Unless a member of his family is on here or one was auctioned, we may never know.

if you google "Knudsen Hats" they have an exact replica to be custom made for you... also GLenn Ford's, John Wayne (of course) and a host of other famous western movie and TV star replica hats as well as many other authentic period western hats custom made in varying degrees of beaver, hare etc... great site
...No afil...

OOPS... didn't read that Knudsen was already noted... BTW they have much less expensive versions.

Do you have the version with Jimmy Stewart's commentary through Winchester 73? I understand that he discusses the hat, but am not sure how much detail that he gives.
