A sunny, slightly chilly morning. I’m making the three-kilometer trek to my office—or, as I call it, "the hat depot."
This particular piece is a Vanzina, manufactured in Pavia before the company was acquired by Borsalino.
I sometimes wonder where Vanzina stood within the Italian hat-making landscape—a thriving industry back in the day.
The examples I’ve come across are of average quality—nothing extraordinary, with a few notable exceptions. Borsalino used the Vanzina brand to break into market segments with price points different from their main line.
This one is a "Mogano - Mahogany" felt hat with a matching ribbon; it’s well-crafted, and I occasionally take it along with me when I’m out and about.

When I retired, I spent a couple yrs accumulating good quality tropical shirts, wools, and flannels... I can pick a shirt to match any hat on the wall!
