I'm gonna go with a Premier Stratoliner this morning. Unlined, unreeded sweatband and light, easily molded by hand felt.
What more could a guy ask for ?

Yea about that.... Ill prob end up with more lol. Have been watching for a Stratoliner in the same bronze as the Open Road, as well as a navy blue and the rare natural with matching binding ( not the brown contrasting)

Ive managed to keep my good hats down to under a hundred.... so Ill claim that my addiction is in control.

Finishing my trip out of town, still in the mirtillo color Borsalino Castoro (wore a black Guerra 1855 in beaver yesterday). I think these shots really show the blue.

The trousers are a tad high but, being Tina made, they fit perfectly, I just need to slacken off the braces/suspenders. My bespoke Susqhehana tops out the seersucker blazer and all.

Optimo Week - day 2

I think this is their "Manhattan". It has the center dent and the thin brim ribbon. On their site they have it snapped down and with a pinch, but I prefer mine with no pinch, brim up. I actually can't remember where I got this one. It wasn't eBay, it wasn't Poshmark, and it wasn't TRR. This was before I had a standardized system for logging hat purchases. I'm going to go back through and see if I can figure it out.

It has one little moth nip on the underside of the brim, but it doesn't hurt my feelings too much.

Optimo "Manhattan" in whatever mid-grey/taupe they call this color. I love this one with the lighter ribbon.

I am pairing a couple of PHD panamas with this mornings heat. A PHD was my choice for a dog soiree, hardware store run and a couple yard tasks.

I changed to a finer woven PHD hat for more errands and tasks. The first PHD leather sweat is drying out on a wooden hat block. Turning the leather sweat out drying and adding a drop of leather conditioner is my Modus Operandi. A butcher store and liquor store run was completed in the finer woven, gray ribboned PHD. I use a cotton handkerchief for comfort and to protect my hats.

These PHD hats are light, cooler and comfy to wear about. I change hats in today's forecast 95+'f weather frequently. I am not confident in the leather sweats used by PHD to tolerate perspiration of long duration. Other panamas I have have a liner behind the leather sweat. It prevents soaking the woven toquilla straw. This tactic works for me.

Other hats are on the ready for the balance of the day.

I've read that the hat he is wearing is called a Lords hat but is there really a difference in shape and style? Anybody know?

I think generally the hat we refer to as Lord‘s Hat is very much the same as an homburg but without the brim binding. The hat he is wearing appears to show some brim binding… so I’d lean more towards homburg. There were probably hundreds of models back in that era that were slight variations on the style. His hat just has front pinches/dents…. And the crown is a bit more broken down on the center dent.

I believe you could get very close to the look with your homburg. Beautiful hat.
